An Ebay Seller Gave Me Wrong Tracking Number From Amazon com I Ordered From Ebay Not Amazon
Hi,
On Monday night July 9th I ordered an adhesive no drill curtain rod for $20.97 with free shipping and not long afterwards I was provided a tracking number and Ebay said I could check my tracking number but when I clicked on the numbers it took me to Amazon.com and it said Sorry we can't find that package and I didn't even know that the seller was going to use Amazon since I only ordered it from Ebay.
So I called Amazon and I spoke with a customer service agent and at first she said she couldn't find it either but then she said that it was with a business account but I never had any business account or any other account only one customer account.
So I sent the seller a few emails explaining this and I also sent one to Ebay and I also wrote negative feedback and Ebay said great job.
A few hours later my negative feedback was removed and so far I haven't heard anything back from the seller or Ebay.
Not long after I ordered my curtain rod I sent a message to the seller and I asked if the balls on the ends of the rod can be taken off and then put back on because I noticed that the openings of my curtains are small and I said I would really appreciate it if you can let me know.
The seller never answered me and shipped it instead. I have been buying items from Ebay for 4 years and there have been a few not so nice not so honest sellers but there have been many nice and honest ones that gave me a refund when things went wrong including several recently.
I have read many discussions on here over several years and many on Reddit communities by customers who describe that they were also victims of the fake tracking scam.
Ebay really should support the customers and remove these terrible scammers.

·2 years agoI'm sorry for the bad customer service that seller provided.
I am a seller. I just started shipping my items to Amazon warehouses so they will store and ship some of my eBay items. It's called Amazon Multi-Channel Fulfillment (MCF). Fulfilled by Amazon (FBA) does this too.
Did you get the item? If you left negative feedback before item was late, that would be wrong. I don't think seller is obligated to respond if item isn't late and order has no issue. However, I wouldn't order from that seller again.
Next time you have a doubt about wanting to order, before item has shipped, submit a Cancel Order request, then message seller. That will keep it from being shipped until you're ready.
Hopefully, you receive the item with no issue.
EDIT: I just read that you received it without issue. That's good. I hope you don't accept a refund from the seller if the only issue was the tracking wasn't useful, even though it was on its way. If you got what you ordered on time, it would be abusive to ask for your money back and keep the item.
Amazon doesn't provide tracking like UPS, USPS, and FedEx does. Was it delivered on time? Did seller respond to messages within 12-24 hours? That would be reasonable. It may have automatically shipped before they saw your message. Again, use Cancel Order if you have doubts before item is shipped.

OP2 years agoAfter all this, my curtain rod arrived but ebay still says it's just been shipped not delivered and when I click on the tracking number and it takes me to Amazon again it still says Sorry we can't find that package!
So something is very wrong here

·2 years agoYou are right. I didn't get scammed per se, but out of all the years buying on eBay it was the 1st time I had been treated so disrespectfully by a seller through email. I purchased a Bible that was stated clean, no writings, but when I received it, it had highlighting on not just 1 or 2 pages but throughout the Bible and on top of it, it had a musty order that wasn't strong, but noticible. I was giving it to a friend recovering from stage 4 cancer and the last thing I wanted to give her was something with possible mold spores. Well, he chewed me up and down the other side and insinuated that I was lying and refused to refund my money even when i was graceful enough to pay for the shipping. Several emails were like that and he went as far as having the nerve to ask me to remove my feedback and I kindly responded I would be happy to, if he would kindly refund my money. Because I had everything through ebay's email format, when I called CS, they were pretty astounded at his behaviour and didn't hesitate to refund me, however, sometimes hitting ones pocket book isn't enough to change ones behavior and teach them how to treat others the way they expect to get treated. Perhaps a 30 day timeout was in order.

OP2 years agoPlease stop replying to me I have gotten a lot of many good bargain deals at good prices and most have free shipping and they are from the U.S!
k_blueskies
OP2 years agoI was really hoping to hear from the many good honest eBay customers who have also posted about how they have been victims of the fake tracking scam not sellers who are defensive and can't be objective.
But I really hope this same terrible thing happens to you and then come back and post about it and hopefully other members will be as unempathetic as you have been!

OP2 years agoA few hours ago the seller sent me an email asking if I need help with anything and then sent another one apologizing and said they are giving me a refund and that if I get the item I can keep it.

OP2 years agoLast night I also took the advice of other eBay customers in the discussions by people who as they rightly described as being victims of the fake tracking scam, to go to a site Ship24 and put the tracking number on it and they said that if its not USPS I will tell you information about the package but when I did this the same thing happened when I tried the tracking number on eBay, it said we can't find that package!

OP2 years agoI meant it meaning will the site Ship24 will tell you.

·2 years agoWas it the seller from Thailand, dropshipping from Amazon?
If you check their feedback, you can see they've had some problems.
k_blueskies
OP2 years agoA customer in the first negative feedback said in capital letters that they are a scam and to stay away from them and they they claim to be from Thailand but they are really in St.Louis or Illinois I don't remember which one.
I never saw this negative feedback because I regrettably didn't check before I bought because I saw that this seller puzzlingly has mostly positive feedback and reviews.
Last night I wrote to the Better Business Bureau about this and I looked on their complaints and reviews of eBay and sure there enough there are countless!

·2 years ago@k_blueskies,
Many ebay sellers also sell through Amazon, and their stock is stored and shipped through Amazon, using their Fulfilled by Amazon (FBA) drop shipping service, which is ebay legal to do. When the Amazon customer service rep told you it was a business account tracking number, they probably meant the seller's account was a business one, not yours.
This being the week after the 4th holiday, the seller may be on vacation and that's why they have not responded to your questions. seller's are not required to reply to messages by ebay.
Your feedback was probably removed because you mentioned shipping from Amazon which is legal, or because the transaction hadn't been completed yet if the last estimated delivery date had not passed and you mentioned the item not being shipped. Actually it looks like the negative is still there but the comment has been removed, which the seller may be able to get removed later.
Searching Reddit for help with ebay issues, is not the way to get good information. Many of those people have problems because they never read the terms and time frames for using eBay's Money Back Guarantee. They may have let the time frames for taking actions expire, filed the wrong type of dispute, or took no action beyond trying to contact a seller. If you have a problem with a transaction you do not know how to deal with, you can get good information from the members on these boards.
After looking at your feedback profile, it seems you bought from a seller registered in Thailand, who gives an item location of Brooklyn N.Y. for their items, and they have a feedback percentage just on the cusp of being a poor by ebay standards seller. Them being located in Tahiland is probably why there was no response from the seller.
Before buying from any seller on ebay, you should check their feedback profile, before buying from one. You do that by scrolling down a listing page to where you see the seller's username in a large font. Below that will be a few feedback comments, and under them is an oval with See All Feedback in it. Click on that button to open their profile page. On that page at the top you will see the seller's country of registry, below that is a box with the numbers of the 3 types of feedback as seller can receive. You can click on the numbers of neutral and negative feedback to read only those comments. Never go by a feedback percentage alone.
It seems most of the issues you've had on ebay are because you buy from Chinese or Asia based sellers. Buying from those sellers not a wise thing to do.
k_blueskies
OP2 years agoYour response is not nice, not accurate, unfair and not helpful at all. And I don't mostly buy from sellers from other countries and even if I did this is still fraud and totally wrong!
k_blueskies
OP2 years agoAnd I only ever bought from other countries by sellers with mostly positive feedback, who have been members for years and have sold many items and I only by from the sellers from other countries if they are the only ones with a good affordable price with free shipping.
And I have been an eBay customer for 4 years now but after I receive my other few items from other sellers I think I'm going to permanently leave and delete my account because I don't ever want this to happen again and it's happened to so many people and as I already said there are many eBay posts by customers on this very forum , Reddit and other places online.
Also if this seller was on Vacation and I really doubt that if they are really in Thailand they celebrate the 4th of July, I as I already explained in my first post I had sent them a message asking if the balls on the ends of the curtain rod can be removed and then put back but they never responded but were able to ship my order instead.
kensgiftshop
·2 years agoYes, that one seller is actually in Thailand.
They probably didn't answer because they know nothing about the products they are listing.
k_blueskies
OP2 years agoThere really needs to be an edit option on here, anyway I just took the advice of members on this forum who recommended putting your tracking number on the site Ship24 and even this site says my package can't be found! So now what do I do?
