After 7 weeks of waiting for item it finally arrives. Ebay ok with that.
Follow up to my last thread regarding a parcel I purchased on June 2. No communication from seller and no tracking uploading. He shipped in a liquor box and item was returned to him on June 15. Reshipped on June 17. Again no communication and no tracking uploading. Finally someone on here told me to go to parcelsapp. to see if tracking showed up there and it did. Its on the other side of the US in California from Massachusetts. We live in Ontario. Sat there for 15-20 days before tracking moved again.
Item arrived on Friday June 19, the new due date according to ebay. They are certainly not looking at the purchase date.
Putting here the condition of the box when it arrived. Seller didn't learn from shipping in a liquor box. Now its a thin box which is pretty well shredded and disintegrated and by some miracle the piece didn't fall out and they just didn't chuck it out.
Now what? Leaving a negative is not one of my favorite thing to do. Ebay contacted seller or saw that item was delivered and just closed the case. Yet they contacted me and sent a survey asking how things went with Dennis yesterday. I never talked to no Dennis, they just closed the case.

·2 years agoI shipped something on June 25th that was apparently going to Canada. The only address I saw was where I shipped it...A freight forwarder in IL. (arrived there on the 27th).
Have seen that IL address many times and assume item was an EIS order.
Found out Canada a few days ago when buyer opened a not received case.
It arrived yesterday and buyer closed the case.
I did my job correctly and without delay... and item arrived at the destination to which I shipped it in two days.
But I'm the bad guy because it took a month to get it from the freight forwarder, to the customer.
That's just how it works sometimes though.

OP2 years agoI never put the blame on the seller. Ebay could improve the efficiency of the system they put in place. We don't have that system in Canada and things get to the US or even overseas in a matter of days direct from the post office to the buyer. If we purchase from the US we need to accept that it won't be here for a month? Does that sound right to you.

·2 years agoWhat system are you talking about that eBay should improve the efficiency of? The only shipping that eBay has any control over is EIS, and nowhere do you indicate that the seller shipped that way. What you describe is the inefficiency of the US Postal Service, which eBay has absolutely no control over.
Before you jump on me again for thinking it's "okay to take seven weeks to deliver something" you need to reread what I've written. The issue is that you're blaming the wrong people. You can blame the seller for the delay caused by having to repackage the item. You can blame USPS for the package getting misrouted. Ebay has absolutely no control over the efficiency of either of those.

·2 years agoI assume that's a dog under your table @luv4orphans ? I have to admit to doing a double-take - thought it was a skunk at first. ðŸ˜
FYI your first post about this was on the .ca discussion board while this post is on the .com discussion board.
Nice of you to handle the situation the way you did considering all that happened. Hopefully the seller will listen to you and do things better for the next buyer. Still some time to get that boat on the water this summer - enjoy.

OP2 years agoYes it's a miniature daschund. He's multicolor. Has a gray stripe across his head and part of his back. He even looks like a skunk when he walks slow. Didn't notice he was there.
A pain but item made it here which is good considering. Hard to find at a decent price like we got.
The seller seem to appreciate what I mentioned to him. New one and just not thinking. Hopefully he'll know for next time he ships.
That ESUS program or whatever it's called is the worst. They wait till they fill a container and then ship. WTH. We thought it was coming straight thru the post office and that takes about 5-10 days. The EIS sucks also. I've had nothing but bad experience thru that and it's costly. Cheaper and faster to buy from overseas nowadays.

·2 years agoSome sellers are not too bright and do not know how to package things properly.
Having said that, you paid for the item, not for the cardboard box.
If the item you ordered works, I'd suggest putting this transaction behind you. If you want to leave critical feedback, try to make it constructive so that the seller can learn from his mistake. It might be along shot, but at least you tried.
luv4orphans
OP2 years agoI won't be leaving feedback. I contacted the seller this morning and let him know about the poor packing along with the pictures so he knows for next time. He's fairly new and probably wasn't thinking when he sent this off. He thanked me for the tips and for my patience. The next person especially if not a seller might not be so understanding. All is good. Moving on.

·2 years agoI think a good seller would refund you the shipping costs at least, since they made the mistake.
7 weeks is a long time past the delivery date.

·2 years ago@luv4orphans,
Sounds to me like you bought from a new or very inexperienced seller, who had no idea of how to ship internationally and if they went to the P.O. to ship where to enter the tracking number. As a seller yourself, you should know how the Money Back Guarantee works and why ebay would have closed an item not received dispute.
As ittybitnot posted, There had to be a tracking number some place in order for parcelsapp or any other tracking service to track the package. Maybe the person who suggested it was on ebay's Canadian site not this one which is the U.S. based site.
luv4orphans
OP2 years agoYa the tracking showed up when the box was returned to him for improper packaging. Then I put a post on here cause it wasn't showing up again and I was wondering if seller had reshipped the item and he wasn't responding. Someone on here mentioned to go look on parcelsapp for that number.

·2 years agoMan those kind of lazy packing jobs are ridiculous. I would have wrapped the part in thick bubble wrap. Spider webbed the bubble wrap with tape. Then cut the box flat, wrapped it around the part with a huge amount of tape. Some people don't have any common sense. Smh.
luv4orphans
OP2 years agoYes will let him know and leave it at that. The way this thing was packed, a little more time it wouldn't have made it here. Fallen on the floor of a warehouse and they would just chuck it out. He had no way of knowing it was going to take this long and all the transit it went through. So ya pack things carefully. No clue, real air heads pack like this.

·2 years ago@slyders_finds
I would have done it the same way. I use cardboard, bubble wrap, a lot of tape, sometimes double boxing for a very fragile item.
The shoddy packaging shows a lack of respect for the buyer, a lack of common sense, and it can also drive repeat business away from eBay.
I would love to be able to rate sellers on Packaging, as we do for Accurate Description, Shipping Cost, Shipping Speed, and Communication.
That's a very small change eBay could make -- it would take just minutes to implement -- which could help sellers to provide better service and improve the eBay experience, overall.
How could I bring this to eBay's attention?

·2 years agoI just mention a bad packing job in the comment with the feedback. I had a guy send a Vinyl Record in a bubble envelope. Jacket had so many bends in it. Returned it. Sad because it was a semi rare record.

@luv4orphans
Perhaps I am misunderstanding your post, but can you please explain how with no tracking number and no communication you were able to find all this out about the liquor box and the return? How did you track the package on parcelapp with no tracking number?
buyselljack2016
·2 years agoand I want to know how that item fit in a liquor box
luv4orphans
OP2 years agoNot sure. He sent a picture showing the box had been returned and it had VODKA on it. Not allowed to do that. Would have needed to wrap box in brown paper or something in order for it to go through. Why did the first drop off post office never told him this in the first place.
luv4orphans
OP2 years agoThe item looks larger in the picture than it actually is. Settings on my camera probably or a close up. Its heavy enough though so should have been packed more carefully.
luv4orphans
OP2 years agoHe responded on the 15th that item had been returned to him and was sitting on his porch when he got home because not allowed to ship items in a liquor box with markings showing. The tracking also showed up at that time that the item had been returned to him. That's how.
The rest I found out on these pages through someone that mentioned to look on parcelsapp.

·2 years agoYou don’t have to leave feedback at all.
If it were me and the item made it unscathed, albeit late, I would just skip feedback.

·2 years ago"liquor box"....not allowed to use it if it states liquor, wine or beer or has pictures on outside of box.
Have no idea what that is you bought.
You are allowed to return something in a 30 day window upon receiving the item.
If you didn't return the item...I don't think it warrants a negative response.
It got delivered.
kathiec
·2 years agoI'm not sure what you think eBay can do beyond their Money Back Guarantee. If the item is damaged you should open a case and return it, at the seller's expense.
It's also not clear how you think eBay or the seller is responsible for the package being misdirected and sitting in the postal system for "15-20 days".
luv4orphans
OP2 years agoI didn't say the seller was responsible for transit time. But certainly responsible for lousy packaging job, the first and second time around. No question about that.
I guess you are okay with waiting 7 weeks for an item to arrive. Half the summer is gone. Boat part was needed long before this and bought it in good faith that the item would arrive in a timely manner.

Not everything has to be a battle.
I've received things in horrible packaging -- As long as the item is intact, I don't neg the seller.

OP2 years agoI wasn't sure what to do so I came here for answers.
I decided to contact the seller and let him know about the poor packaging job. He's fairly new so might not have known and obviously didn't think. I won't leave feedback but I think if no one tells him how will he know. He responded and thanked me for that.
luv4orphans
OP2 years agoOkay sounds like a good plan. But will let seller know about his lousy packing job for next time. That's a bit ridiculous. Item could have ended up in a garbage bin somewhere because it fell out of the box. So ya should be thankful it made it.

·2 years agoIf you're within 30 days of the estimated delivery date and if the item is damaged, you should go back to the order and open a return request choosing one of the "not as described" reasons for the return.
