Account immediately suspended
I made an account for the first time ever, and used my Google account to do so faster, made an order for a comic book I wanted and within ten minutes of doing both my account was permanently suspended and my order was cancelled. I had never had an account before. I wondered whether the issue was that I included a European phone number in the registration but used an American address for the package destination because I am in Europe and want my package sent to the states, but it doesn't sound like something that would call for a life-time ban.
After hours of trying to get in contact with some version of customer support regarding this, especially difficult because the only viable option for communication was receiving a call which would not have been possible since I am outside North America, I made a new account from another email and thankfully found an other seller who had the item I was searching for and managed to actually speak to a service agent via chat.
The agent told me that they had found evidence that my account was somehow a threat to the platform, which I found hard to believe as I'd used it for exactly 20 minutes and went on my merry way, and informed me that the reasons and evidence could not be shared with me because it went against company policy to share the actual company policy, which is genuinely insane. The whole conversation was like speaking to a brick wall and there is no way for me to appeal.
I don't blame the customer service but the lacking transparency and communication, the "reasons" are not reasons. The whole system is flawed and discomforting and if not that I cannot find what I'm looking for outside of this platform I would never use it again. Extremely infuriating.

·2 years agoYou gave falsified information on your true location when you used the United States as your location.
This is not the same thing as the shipping address.

·2 years agoEbay tracks IP address on every transaction. That actually may be why your account was suspended in the first place. If you log in on any kind of a shared network and one person who also uses or has used that network was suspended eBay may assume your account and that person's account are connected.
So yes, eBay will detect your new account, and they very likely will boot you off the site for life. But I guess that will give you more time to get a life.

·2 years agoIt could be the phone number, it could be a mismatch between your Google Account and the information you provided Ebay.
My instinct tells me that you were considered a threat to the platform because your identity was not verifiable because of the address mismatch.
Internet marketplaces in the US make a practice of not providing full information when you have created a trust and safety violation. It is not just Ebay. I think the theory is that if you are told what you did wrong you might find a way to fraudulently bypass the checks in place to protect the site.

·2 years agoSomeone tells you what eBay policy is and you tell them to get a life? You're breaking policy and it's just a matter of time before you have no account... again.
