Abusive buyer?
Hi, I buy alot of stuff from ebay and In the past few months I have gotten a few disapointments in the mail. Some misleading pictures or poor packaging and so on so I have made a a few more return and refund requests than usual.
But this latest one where I got a box of dvds and they were a lot dirtier and damaged than described. Some might be just the post Messing up or poor packaging but whatever. I send a retur request where I get an abusive buyer warning.
This makes me nervous. If I go through with the request is there a chance that my account will be banned?
Everytime I have made reportage and requests I have been genuine from my perspective so how can ebay say that I am abusive?

"abusive buyer warning"...I didn't know eBay did this. Sounds like your buying days on eBay might be gone doing one more return.

·2 years agoAs others have commented, more information would be helpful but based solely on what you've posted coupled with my own experience as a buyer for over 20 years, I would say that you would be considered an "abusive buyer."
In over 20 years and on 3 accounts, I think I've had to file 2 NAD claims.
Buyers have a responsibility to vet their sellers, check sellers' feedback histories, carefully review pictures and descriptions and ask any questions BEFORE hitting the "buy" or "bid" buttons.
Buyers also need to know their own personalities. If you are fussy, high maintenance, a perfectionist, etc., perhaps an online venue isn't your best option for shopping. Ebay isn't for everyone.
In answer to your question, "If I go through with the request is there a chance that my account will be banned?" it's very possible that you will be banned from buying.
"Everytime I have made reportage and requests I have been genuine from my perspective so how can ebay say that I am abusive?"
Perhaps abusive isn't the best adjective from a buyer's point of view but from a seller's p.o.v, an extremely fussy buyer is cringeworthy.

OP2 years agoIm replying to you but it can be seen as replying to all responses so far.
I think I have ordered about 50 different items, mostly inexpensive but some more on the heavier size.
7 i reported for not arriving. Either they had no tracking or they stod still for a longer stretch of time. Some appear after a few weeks and some never appear.
4 just did not look like they did in the listing. So I felt cheated since I suspekt that they sent a dufferent article than advertised.
5 arrived in rough shape because of poor shipping or packaging so more damage/dirt than expected. In one case it was completely destroyed so a full refund was issued.
Some of these i just got a refund without even asking just inquqiring about the item or seeking advice with customer support.
Maybe I have not looked into the sellers close enough so I get poor quality service from them. Maybe its time to stop ordering things.

·2 years ago16 "issues" out of 50 purchases is HUGE! That's about 1/3 of your purchases!

Thanks for the info. I would think that requesting/ receiving refunds on 1/3rd of your purchases would alert an eBay bot to abusive buying.
Without assigning blame, it does seem like you need to buy in person to ensure that you receive what you purchase.

·2 years agoEveryone else here has hit the nail on the head. We can only speculate because we can't view your purchase activities. I would make the assumption that ebay bots flagged you on your ratio of returns and refunds compared to purchases. As others have pointed out, you may well need to vet your sellers better to avoid getting items that don't meet your standards. I've been on this site since 2010, and if memory serves me correctly, I've made 2 return/refund requests.

·2 years agoYou’re expectations are not tempered, you’re treating eBay and the various “low-end†part-time sellers as if it’s Amazon or some vestiges of online retail, it’s not. You are in most cases buying from an online “flee-marketâ€, what are you expecting?

Without more info we cannot really say why you are getting the abusive buyer (abuse of the MBG policy) message. A guess would be that you have filed too many not as described disputes recently, as opposed to how many purchases you have made in the same time period, and are now on ebay's radar. None of us on these boards can say for certain what would happen if you try to open another dispute. You may be temporarily limited or suspended from filing disputes, for awhile before having your dispute privileges revoked or your account closed.
We might have been able to tell you more If we could see your real username's feedback profile page. We could use the info we can gather from that to suggest things you might do to avoid buying from poor sellers in the future.

·2 years agoHi @tobig-7917
Abusive buyer? you ask.
We have no clue whether you’re an abusive buyer, since you’re posting with a new eBay account that shows us nothing about your buying activities.
I’ve heard of eBay cutting off a buyer’s ability to file claims using its Money Back Guarantee after too many have been filed. eBay doesn’t specify how many is ‘too many’. 🫤
Can you tell us how many cases you’ve filed in the past year vs. how many purchases you’ve made?

But maybe, just maybe, you need to vet your sellers more carefully. Do you always check a seller's FB before buying?
