A 'too good to be true' situation ... with a surprise!
I’ve been purchasing brown, grocery bags for years to use inside my wastepaper baskets ... buying them from the same venue. They typically cost me $30 for 50 bags (Free shipping).
My usual venue stopped selling them in the (atypical) size I use … and I encountered a ‘fake tracking scam’ when I purchased them from a different venue at a similar price.
I eventually found my size listed by an eBay seller for $20 for 300 bags (Shipping: $21.46).
What was the chance I’d actually receive 300 bags for $41.26 that previously would have cost $180? ‘Slim at best’, I thought ... but I took the chance, because I couldn’t find them anywhere else, and the seller’s feedback was VG.
- 7/21: Placed my order. (EDD was 7/23-27).
- 7/23: Received tracking number from UPS.
- 7/27: Still no ‘Accepted’ notice. [I figured I’d file an INR claim in 3-4 days.]
- 7/28: ‘Accepted’ by UPS with an EDD of 7/29. [I’m now expecting my 6th ‘Fake tracking scam’ … and wondering if I should file a claim with eBay or my CC company.]
- 7/29: Delivered! [Bags are not quite as heavy as my usual … but I got all 300!]
I’m delighted and amazed … and am rejiggering my beliefs with regard to recognizing scams and advising OPs.
I’m now questioning whether I should mention the delay in shipping in my feedback … mainly to reassure other buyers that this is NOT a scam and to be patient. [eBay’s rule for buyers NOT putting negative comments w/ positive feedback gives me pause.]
I’d especially appreciate receiving sellers views on what to mention in feedback. TIA!

As a seller and a buyer I told myself not to post any neutral or negative feedbacks so others can read them.
Guess what sometimes a grocery bag might have in a bag....a roach.
That's how they invade a household....
We have 3 different color containers for garbage...so paper bags wouldn't even be worth it for San Francisco.
I can never remember usually which container gets what...LOL

Why would a roach be any more likely to be in a new grocery bag we buy online ... as compared to any other new item? 🤔
BTW, we have the same 3 different color containers for garbage here. I buy the grocery bags for trash ... ever since they started charging $1 per grocery bag in CA supermarkets. LOL
Green: Regular garbage/trash.
Blue: Recycling items.
Brown: Garden clippings. 😉

Grocery bag(s) in a grocery store...bags are stored near food stuff.
Working in retail...we seen them all the time.
Buying online...anything clothing can have bed bugs in the plastic bags since a lot of them come from Asian countries.
And there is always stories about bed bugs in hotel rooms no matter the classification of the hotel luxury.
New linen is placed on beds and thus...they can be there.
Blue : recyclables(not plastic bags)
Compost : plastic bags, razors, etc.
Trash : pizza boxes or food boxes with tiny pieces of food in them, etc.
It can get confusingðŸ˜

·1 year agoI wouldn't mention the delay as it could be a one off, but I would definitely give 2 or 3 stars for shipping speed.

·1 year agoIgnore the EDD. Look at the listing. Click on the see details link next to the ship cost. On the pop up, what does it show is the seller's handling time?
Also if you want to mention the delay to reassure other buyers I think the way to do it would be to say something like:
Item shipped within a week and arrived shortly after.

Handling time shows as 1 business day. That's why I was concerned ... and thought about reassuring other buyers so that they are NOT concerned if a week goes by without the carrier receiving the package.

No star-ratings at all. This is their ONLY item for sale currently ... although a third of their feedback is from selling previously.
Except for the seller's high Feedback Score and Percentage ... this was a red-flag purchase. ALL 5 of my previous 'Fake tracking scam' purchases were of suddenly-scarce, common, household items ... which is why I fully expected another scam to add to my list. I told my DH to expect the scam after ordering these.
I really am delighted to be wrong ... and don't plan to lower any stars ... just will omit the Shipping star-rating. I don't want to hurt the seller.
