56 Thunderbird
Good afternoon,
I believe I am the new owner of a 1956 Thunderbird.
Now what?
How do I pay? Where do I send the funds and are there any extra fees that I don't know about?

·3 years agoUnfortunately sales in eBay Motors don't have the same protections as the rest of the site. They're covered by eBay Vehicle Purchase Protection. And more unfortunately, you only have 45 days after the listing end date to open a case under VPP. Plus the damage would never fall under its protections because the car is more than 10 years old. Had you not passed the deadline, the title issues and lack of delivery probably were compensable. But since that ship has now sailed sadly your only options are to work it out with the seller or take legal action.

OP3 years agoI have been dealing with the seller of the Thunderbird since I won the bid in December. I sent him the funds, and he sent me the title (but it was not in the sellers name) to hold until a shipper could be contracted. Since I am not able to transfer the title of the 1956 Thunderbird In Florida without the car I returned the title to the owner. He gave the title to the shipping company and scheduled the car to be picked up (which I paid for). Upon getting the car the shipper realized that the car would not go into park or reverse. So it is not the "driveable car" as the owner stated. The shipping company took the car to a mechanic in Torono Canada (where the car was sold). They found metal shavings in the transmission, which the seller is getting fixed.
Is this normal???

·3 years agoSounds like the previous driver used the, " if you can't find 'em, grind 'em" shifting method. Not always unusual, and not always good.

·3 years agoAlso, cars bought on eBay are not binding like other items, either party can walk away with no strikes, except the seller, they still have to pay for the listing just like if they had put the ad in newspaper or Hemmings.
