Does anyone know what this thing is?

Hi all,

Does anyone know what this thing is? It was in a box full

of vintage 70s-90s Barbie clothing . There were other vintage clothes as well that were not Barbies so maybe its not hers. I tried doing a google search but nothing came up. At first I thought it might be a harness of sorts . I am clueless here.

Any help, as always, is greatly appreciated.

It looks like it might be a Barbie horse version of a martingale. It's a kind of tack that goes around a horse's neck then up to the head with reins. The fact that it's this shade of pink would likely put it very late 70s through mid 80s. Pink didn't become Barbie's color until Superstar Barbie in 77. And by the late 80s everything had gone to the brighter Barbie pink.

Hi Kathiec, Thanks for the reply.

I googled "Barbie horse version of a martingale" and I see what you mean but this doesn't look like anything that came up. Its made of fabric and its really pretty large. I don't see how any of the "openings" would line up with ears, nose and head. It doesn't appear as if anything detached from it.

Its a head scratcher for sure.

I was thinking that the four legs of the horse go into the 4 holes and then the long loop was the rein.

but, only a guess...

Thanks for the reply. There are actually only 2 smaller ones. If you look at the 2nd photo you will see the other is a single loop. I am going to see if I can get better photos and maybe something to display for size comparison.
