Please help identify this Barbie fur shawl
Soft fur with golden closure and lining - has a vintage mattel/barbie label but I can't find anything similar anywhere - It almost looks too new, like a repro, but does have a correct vintage looking tag ...
Does anyone recognize this cape/stole? Thank you!

·8 months agoAround 6:45 you can see the fur piece from the Gay Parisienne porcelain uses the vintage style tag as well.

·8 months agoWell, I'll be flummoxed as all get out! I guess the piece DOES exist in Barbie's wardrobe! The vintage label is what threw a curve...not to mention just how it looked......

Thanks for the tag @shirleys809304 ! This is definitely a fake, and not a good one. The only fur cape that had the vintage Barbie tag was the Sears Mink. I own a Sears Mink, and this is not even close. The fur is the wrong color and looks like faux fur, and the lining is completely wrong. The saddest thing is that the only reason to have tacked a vintage Mattel label in it would be to deceive someone into thinking it's a real Sears Mink. If you're going to sell it I would implore you to snip out the tag. While I'm sure you'll describe it honestly someone down the road may not be as honest.

OP9 months agoThank you @kathiec and @shirleys809304 for your replies and confirm my suspicion of this not being a true vintage. This came in a bag of miscellaneous other clothes and was excited when I saw the label but everything else felt new. And no worries, I will definitely remove the tag if I decide to sell it down the road 🙂

But how odd that a 90's doll used a vintage label...?? Maybe the porcelain dolls all have that kind of label?

I am not familiar with this piece, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist in Barbie's vintage wardrobe. I do become a little suspicious when I see items like this because of the possibility that someone may have handmade it and sewed a vintage label in to it or found a knock-off piece and sewed a vintage label onto it. But, I do know someone who will probably be able to tell you right off the bat what it is. I will summon her for you.
