Zero Support
I'm sure I'm barking into the wind, but eBay has gone to zero customer service and I'm planning on taking my business elsewhere.
I have a customer that is misusing the return system and there is zero recourse through eBay.
I clearly listed the flaws and showed them in pictures. I clearly stated that they were not covered by the manufacturer's warranty but that they were operable. I sold is as is with no returns.
For reference this is a pair of Zeiss Binoculars that sold for $240. "Retails for $1000+new"
Buyer received binocs, leaves positive feedback and I do same. They then send them back to Zeiss on a warranty claim to get a $1000 pair of binocs out of it. Zeiss denies the claim as I said they would but offers to repair them for a fee.
It's now been 30 days and buyer files a return and INCLUDES the correspondence from Zeiss that has the same information that I disclosed as evidence and files a return.
I refused the return but as a good faith measure offered a $25 refund to pay for shipping.
Buyer refused and now eBay has frozen my funds, and it appears the return will be forced through.
No way to contact eBay, I have 3 hours into this and all I can get is a standard useless AI response.
I have been with eBay since 2001 and 100% positive feedback in the thousands on my end. When I make a mistake, I own it and promptly fix it, and it shows in my feedback.
It's not a huge amount of money but it is an indicator of business practices, and I think I need a better business partner. This is not the first time I have had an issue and not been able to communicate with the host I am paying. eBay is no longer the only option available, and I am starting to remove all my active listings and moving them to other platforms. Rant over but if y'all have any idea how to navigate eBay's customer service I'd appreciate it.
