I clicked on "bid," and then it prompted, "Your bid failed. Add your payment method again or try a different payment method before placing your bid," regardless of whether I chose a credit card or PayPal. Can someone tell me what's going on?

Mentor2 years agoIf a seller does not have a shipping method specified for the Primary Shipping address in your account settings, even if you designate another shipping address at checkout that the seller does ship to, the seller may be blocking your payment.

OP2 years agoYou might be correct because this eBay account is registered in China, but I have a U.S. address. Previously, I could choose my U.S. address for bidding. However, it seems that eBay's system has been upgraded recently, and eBay has added a feature similar to automatic checkout. Therefore, I couldn't successfully add a payment method before making a payment.

It depends on the exact reason why the block has occurred. If the seller does not have a shipping method specified to your Primary Shipping Address location, the seller may be blocking your payment directly in the seller's Buyer Requirements.
Some items or categories may have limitations due to export or import laws or regulations, or shipping limitations for certain countries. In that case, even if the seller otherwise allows it, the shipment or purchase may be blocked for other reasons.
