I got this pop up on my account.

I called the number and it's a scam.
They told me that my account had been hacked. Asked me about some payment methods I had on the account and then said they were going to transfer me to the Federal Commission Officer who could help me.
Got transfered and "OFFICER Andy Marino" answered and offered to "HELP ME". But first we need to verify who you are........bla bla bla and then asked for my SS#. I said, no, you should not be asking me for this. I ended up hanging up.
I tried to google look up hte ph# [Removed by moderator] and it doesn't pull up.

Mentor4 months ago@ange4now I am glad that you did not fall for the scam. There are no direct numbers to call eBay.
If there's a problem with your account you will see a message from eBay in eBay messages. It will never have a USER ID and will address you by your first name.

OP4 months agoI logged on to my ebay account again today and there is the message. How can Ebay allow this to be on their page if you are logged in?

Mentor4 months ago@ange4now Pop ups come from spyware. I recommend adding a pop up blocker to your account.
Contact customer service and let them know that the scam pop up is still there.

Here's my advice to help secure your account:
#1 Run a full scan with your virus software to remove any spyware from your computer.
#2 Go to my eBay> account>personal information and make sure that all information is correct including your cell phone number, registered email and ship from and to addresses.

#4 Secure your email account.
Change the passwords and secret questions. Be sure to use different passwords and secret questions on eBay and your email. Do not use these passwords on any other account.
Hacked accounts often start with a hacked email account.
#5 Calling is the only way to report hacked accounts for security reasons.

#6 For extra protection consider turning on two-step verification. 3rd option on this page>

#7 Unlink all Social Sign in methods and change your passwords on those accounts too. The hacker will be able to use the social sign in links to sign in to your account again if you do not disconnect this option.
