OP1 week agoAnd of course ebay likes to remove my postings as well never have you seen any profanity unless "screwed" now counts as profanity, or "sheisty" now is a cuss word. And if me saying "cheap stuff from china" is somehow "outside their rules " how should i say it " less exspensive items form Aisa"??? nope they remove my posts. See Ebay knows what they are doingf by charging the claimed "13.6%" not from what i selll the item for its 13.6% from the item cost, the shipping costs(even though the buyer is responsible for all shiopping costs" and the taxes(which in this case is on the buyer!!!) Tell me im wrong for my opinion...that is what they are doing. Argue the text"buyer pays ALL shipping costs...why do i have to buy the shipping label? i know what people will say "they took the shipping costs and gave it to you with the item amount" no they didnt ...THEY calculated the amount they took not me. if ebay cant get it right on shipping costs they should not be involved...but then why use ebay?..

THE ONLY WAY TO MAKE MONEY ON ITEMS IS TO CHARGE AS PART OF SHIPPING COSTS THE FOLLOWING THE PACCKING MATERIALS,DELIVERY COSTS,AND TO MAKE SURE YOU GET ENOUGH FROM BUYER FOR SHIPPING (THE ACTUAL AMOUNT YOUR SHIPPER CHARGES YOU.
Of course! And eBay gives you the tools to do that.
Use calculated shipping based on service selected, package size, and weight. eBay gives you a discount on shipping and you have the option to pass along all, some, or none of the discount to the buyer. Many sellers pass on part of the discount and allow the rest to cover packaging costs. You can alternatively enter a handling fee to cover those costs.
Your item pricing is also a factor. It should cover your cost of goods, your fees, and the profit you want to make.
All of this is within your control. You just have to set up your items correctly.

When "the Buyer pays for shipping", that money is given to you/the seller.
- Then you pay for the shipping label.
ย
- The amount the buyer pays for shipping could be more or less than the actual final shipping cost, it is based on the settings chosen in your listing when you created it.
ย
- The amount you pay for shipping is based on the actual final shipping details you enter before you click to print a label.
ย
Be sure to always enter the correct weight and dimensions when you list your item, and use Calculated Shipping. (You should never need to type a price, that means you are using a fixed price shipping.)
Don't use eBay's estimates. Weigh and measure your item.

OP3 weeks agoyou sound exactly like the customer service people i talked to..First of all "buyer pays all shipping costs means what to you? to me it is what it says in plain text. Now on the other hand if i was calculating shipping costs and then charging the customer that amount ,why would i need ebay? nowhere does ebay say: before you okay or accept purchase.... make sure our A.I has taken enough for packing materials, shipping and transportation fees . I would do so!! BUT IT DOES NOT . i cannot extract any funds from the buyers account myself.. and when I "purchase " the shipping label from ebay..its based on what their A.I. suggests is the amount to extract. thats that! there is no "grace period" or any other ability for me to review the shipping amount ebay extracts and if there were ...what then? will ebay go back and take more shipping money out of the buyers purchase funds...no. You are not being honest. Its very simple at the time of purchase which is istant...not myself nor ebay know the actual weight or cost to ship said item...why becase i dont have a shipping calculator on me ,at my home period. so ebays A.I estimates the cost based on other sales. Ask the automated customer service bot what 2+2 is ...it cant answer. So then ebay produces a shipping label for you to buy...you dont have to use theirs but i do...why? because ILL SAVE 37% ON SHIPPING LABEL COST!! whoa didnt the transactions parameter say "buyer pays all shipping" now to me that doesnt make one bit of sense. YOU CANT KNOW THE SHIPPING COSTBEFORE THE TRANS ACTION UNLESS YOU PACKAGED THE ITEM TO SHIP AND TOOK IT TO THE SHIPPER BEFORE THE TRANSACTION WAS DONE. tell me im wrong.

You can override the AI suggestions for weight and dimensions, and I highly recommend you do.
Most sellers have scale at home. You can get a good one for $35, which will pay for itself in a few shipments and last 10+ years.
I do estimate the packaging needed, weigh each item, and enter those dimensions when I list
For weights over 1 lb, you need weight to the nearest lb, you don't need precise weight. So 2.1 lb = 3 lbs, etc
For measurements, round up to the next inch.
The buyer is agreeing to pay the shipping as stated in your listing.
You are agreeing to ship it to the buyer for that amount.

OP1 week agoyes i did that i doubled the actual weight to compensate ebay took more shipping at time of purchase...and then charged me the increased amount (double the shipping cost) for my shipping label!!!! so no that doesnt work
er-830181
OP1 week agoagain i didnt come up wiuth that ebay did. since then i change the package demensions and most recently make the package larger that the item and the weight double...all that did was make me have to pay more for the shipping label, which in turn ebay adds to the "transaction final value " so the 13.6% they take just increases thamount i lose .
er-830181
OP1 week agoi dont know how to make it any clearer and people find it too simple i dont know what to say. Buyer pays all shipping costs" if that is so why do I the seller have to buy my shipping label from ebay? i didnt determine how much ebay took for shipping...isnt that the point of using ebay? they are supposed to handle all the sales details...my job is to list item, print out label, take to shipper, get paid. right or wrong? if i have to measure weigh and all that what do i need ebay for ??/ to list the item? there is craigslist, poshmark, esty classified flea market many othersbut i chose to use ebay ,it works for making sure the transaction is secure, to calculate the shipping cost give me a link to print out the label. It doesnt work ,why ebay doesnt take the money directly from the purchaser when the package arrives at shipper(then they will know in real time dimensions weight ect) ill never know but i suspect i do

Mentor3 weeks ago ยท EditedA few words about formatting:
Typing in all capital letters is the internet equivalent of shouting; therefore, very rude.
Long walls of text put a lot of readers off. It is easier for other people to read your thoughts -- and understand them -- when you break them into sentences and very short paragraphs.
Now, to your content. Your post states:
". . . and when I "purchase " the shipping label from ebay..its based on what their A.I. suggests is the amount to extract. thats that! there is no "grace period" or any other ability for me to review the shipping amount ebay extracts and if there were ...what then?"
Much of that is incorrect.
When you purchase the shipping label from/through eBay, AI has no part in it.
The shipping prices for Calculated Shipping are based on
size dimensions in inches, and weight in pounds and ounces.
Those numbers (sizes and weights) are entered manually by you, the seller.
Again: AI has no part in it.
YOUR own fingers press the number keys on your keyboard or phone app, to enter those numbers into eBay's computer system.
That is how eBay's computer system knows what numbers to use in calculating postage/shipping costs. Again: AI has no part in it.
And there is absolutely an "ability" for you to review and revise/edit the shipping sizes and weights before you purchase your postage through eBay.
I only use a computer for most of my eBay actions, so I can only describe how to revise/edit shipping sizes and/or weights before you purchase postage using a computer -- not the eBay App.
At the top of the page there is a box that shows the package's size dimensions and weight that were entered at the time you created the listing.
Sometimes those numbers will change. For my most recent sale, I was able to use a box that was smaller than the one I measured when I created the listing about two months earlier. In that particular sale, it did not make a difference in the USPS Ground Advantage price, but in some cases it just might.
In that box at the top of the page, you will see a small "icon" in the shape of a slanted pencil. Click on that pencil icon and you will be able to revise the weight of the package and the measurements of its length, height, and depth.
One thing that too many new eBay sellers seem not to know, let alone understand or accept, is this:
eBay does not allow sellers to ask buyers to pay any additional money toward shipping after those buyers have already paid for their purchase through eBay.
This does put the responsibility directly on sellers to make sure their package sizes and weights -- entered during the listing process -- are accurate.
If/when an eBay seller has to pay more for shipping than the eBay buyer does --
so be it. eBay sellers could take losses on some sales, due to shipping prices.
Smart eBay sellers learn from such losses, and try to figure out how they, themselves, can help to avoid future losses.

OP1 week agoIve done all that and i actually lost money on several sales...how i dont know i let ebay estimate the shipping i bought their label and i got screwed. "buyer pays all shipping" doesnt seem to ring with ebay ...i have to buy their shipping label!!!!
er-830181
OP1 week agosorry about the shouting i capitalize not to yell but to highlight the most important aspects of what im writing...but i appologize for the shouting .
er-830181
OP1 week agoyour first claim is wrong ...at time of sale i get no money into my bank account...ebay does not give me the money. it is held by ebay at the very least until the buyer gets his package. when i purchase the label THEY (ebay) takes the money out of what they collected from buyer...(supposedly) then ebay adds the shipping money to the asking price of my item and charges 13.6% on that total amount and takes it out of the money they collected at time of sale(at this time not one cent is in my possesion) then they charge an insertion fee and depending on wether or not their(ebay) A.I. calculated the shipping cost right several days later (longer if your new to selling) i get my money and in most of my cases ebay estimated wrong there was postage due which ebay takes out of my money which i have not taken possesion of yet and in those cases i lost money....you tell me how that works
er-830181
OP1 week agoit seems to me ebay should take the 13.6% off of my net profit not what it costs ME to sell the item and the shipping costs and taxes that total amount..not what i actually got for any item i sold. every item i sold i got less than what i sold it for .look at my sales and what i ended up getting...i lost money on more than 1 item,...several!!!
er-830181
OP1 week agono its not they when im listing the item the size and dimentions are already there!!! i didnt put them there ebay did...i know "its my responsibility to verify the weight and dimensions right?? why am i paying ebay then for what?if i wanted to weigh the stuff i would do it at the post office and cut ebay right out of the whole deal ..BUT YOU CANT ITS AGAINST THE RULES IN THE "USER AGREEMENT" . AND EBAY SAYS USE OUR SHIPPING LABEL AND SAVE 37% ON SHIPPING!! THEY SAY THAT TO ME WHO ONLY SELLS ITEMS IN "BUYER PAYS ALL SHIPPING COSTS" THEY ACTUALLY TELL ME THAT WHEN THEY HAVE NO NEED TO UNLESS THERE IS SOME OTHER REASON FOR IT...MAYBE IF I PAID FOR THE SHIPPING ...i dont.
er-830181
OP1 week agoi get what you are saying i should weigh and measure my items...but then why should i bother using ebay???
