Wrong price, fees, charged by eBay for recent sale

eBay recently paid me for a sale I made. The receipt showed the wrong sale price. The buyer paid shipping. Nevertheless, the amount paid to me was more than 50% less than the sale price. How do I get clarification on what happened and ensure the buyer was charged the correct amount?

Without seeing a screen-shot of the transaction details, it's difficult to comment on what happened, exactly.

In general, however . . . . .

eBay's Final Value Fee (FVF) is charged on every sale. It has two parts:

1. A per-order fee of $0.30 (30 cents), if the total price paid by your buyer is $10.00 or less. If your buyer pays a total of $10.01 or more, the per-order fee is $0.40 (40 cents).

AND

2. A percentage of the total amount paid by the buyer. Depending on the category, this percentage varies from a very low 3% (Heavy Equipment) to 15.3% (Books, Magazines, Movies). Most categories carry a 13.6% FVF percentage.

It is crucial to remember that the FVF percentage fee is applied to the Total Paid By Your Buyer.

In most cases, your buyer's total payment includes three things: Item Price + Sales Tax + Shipping Cost.

It's impossible to tell from your current listings and your sold listing (small pewter container?) whether you are using any of eBay's Promoted Listing programs. If you are, you set the percentage that you want eBay to retain. Sometimes those Promoted Listing fees come as a surprise to newer sellers . . . .
