Wrong Item Sent
On September 27, 2025, I purchased an MFJ-969 antenna tuner from an eBay seller on OBO. He accepted my offer. The listing was poor as the picture showed an MFJ-989C antenna tuner but the text said MFJ-969.
I sent a note to the seller asking for clarification. Is it a 989C or a 969? He bashed me for wasting his time and assured me that if the listing said 969 that is what was being sent. About a week later, USPS delivery guy comes to the door saying he has a heavy package and wants to know where I want it. Total confusion but I accept the 52# package. An MFJ antenna tuner weighs about 6#.
We wrestled the box into the house to open. In the box, we find a HeathKit HL-2200 Linear Amplifier which is a heavy beast. I took pix of the unpacking and packaging, which was poor. Documented damage to the unit and sent a note to the seller. Apparently, he slapped the wrong shipping label on a couple of orders. Several professional but firm messages were sent to the seller asking him what he was going to do about this item that I don't want. He refunded my money for the tuner some other poor soul received instead of this amp.
In good condition, this amp can fetch over $1,000. I don't think this one will as it rattles when moved and the back panel is bent from the poor shipping packaging.
After exchanging several messages and getting no resolution from him, I gave the seller 8 days to resolve this issue and get this item out of my house. But all I get are comments like, I don't know what to do, I'm new to eBay. The deadline is tomorrow.
So, I have a rather valuable piece of ham gear that the seller shipped in error, that I don't want and the seller doesn't know what to do about it.
Any insights to resolve this dilemma would be appreciated.
