Hi @andys1376 Who's the fool? Everybody here knows how eBay works and how to resolve any issues that might arise. And how to be civil while doing it. Again, good luck!
< Why is eBay still collecting sales tax on bullion sold to Wisconsin residents >
The usual reason that sales tax is collected on sales of bullion to buyers in states where bullion is exempt from sales tax is that the seller had listed the item in the wrong category. To prevent sales tax from being collected, the item has to be listed in specific category(ies).
You can go to the listing of the item you purchased and note the category. Then find the same item listed by a company like JMBullion or Apmex and check which category the item is listed in by them.
I have SPECIFICALLY been shopping silver bars listed in the bullion category, and eBay attempts to collect sales tax at checkout. Can I not get a satisfactory answer?
Hi @andys1376 Wrong? In order to know an answer is wrong, one must already know the right answer. Which begs the question, why did they ask for help? Maybe eBay paid staff can give you the answer you seek. Good luck!
< Wrong ... Can I not get a satisfactory answer? >
Can you not provide adequate details? I said the usual reason. If that doesn't fit, then how about describing the situation a little better. Like an item number. Maybe somebody else can give you a satisfactory answer, because I can tell when I'm not wanted.

OP2 years agoI sincerely hope that these replies are coming from Bots, not idiot humans.
Thanks again for the non-answers.
I guess fack eBay and I'll buy my silver elsewhere.

OP2 years agoI guess I have to phone customer service if I really want my question answered.
So far I'm only seeing replies from Bots or absolute fools.
And eBay continues to illegally collect sales tax for items that are properly listed in the bullion category by large bullion companies.
Thanks for nothing, "community".
