Will I be charged for canceling a bid
I think my Item is missing a part so it is therefore broken but it has a bid. I'm not 100% sure it's missing it but I'm worried someone will buy it now and I won't have time to figure it out
Can I cancel the bid and take it down until I figure this out or will I be charged a fee for canceling a bid?
I tried to contact the buyer but was unable to search their username

·3 years agoYou cannot end an auction early without a winner if there is less than 12 hours left to run. If you do so before then there is a fee for doing that of the Final Value Fee percentage times the highest cancelled bid (the hidden maximum of that bid), which is supposed to be waived the first time each calendar year (not sure if that happens automatically or if you have to contact Customer Service to claim the waiver).
If it is less than 12 hours all you can do is cancel the existing bids and new ones as they come in and hope you have time to get them all. If you can't, message the winner and explain the situation and ask him/her if s/he knows whether there is a part there or not or if s/he's happy with the item as is at that price. If you have to cancel the transaction after the win do it for "out of stock" etc., NOT as a buyer request since s/he is not requesting one except at your prompting.
ETA: I'm not seeing any auction of yours with a Buy It Now option, but if this one did have it but it went away with the bid, wait until near the end to cancel the bid so the BIN button wouldn't be up for long enough for someone to find and use it.
Also "cancelling a bid" does not incur a fee. It is cancelling ALL bids AND ending early without a winner is what incurs the fee.
