wierd buyer
I had been selling on ebay for years and then all the sudden some guy gives me a bad rating saying untrue things (said things were missing from his order). I responded to the bad feedback, but then mysteriously my seller account performance went low soon after that. I didn't bother to put new listings up as I had a couple of bad customers in a row. Now that my seller account is good again, I posted some things. One guy bought some handmade van covers today, but then is asking "is this handmade by you". I knew before the order, that I'd get some strange thing happening. It creeps me out to get messages like this. Why are they asking? Is anyone else getting customers who are annoying, wierd, or just trying to generally drag down your business too? What can be done about these things?

·2 years agoHi @suzy981flute Yep, that's just a normal part of online retail selling to human beings. Customers can be annoying, weird, difficult, rude, even creepy. Put on your best, most helpful and kind customer service hat when dealing with customers, as your business and income are at stake.
Whenever a buyer asks a question like that after they buy, especially if it indicates the item might not be what they were looking for/thought they were buying, I give a helpful answer but also ask the buyer if they'd like/need to cancel their purchase, and to please let me know before [when I'll be shipping out].
No more mysteries: Make sure you read all the details and click through to all the links about seller performance requirements, especially how transaction defects for late shipments, cancellations, and return cases work. Always stay on top of what's happening with your seller performance metrics shown on your Seller Dashboard. If there are problems the dashboard will include links to the details.
If you're a small seller, it's fairly easy to slip Below Standard, and hard to climb out of it without eventually, permanently losing your selling privileges.
