Why won't they help?
Summary: ncl_1701 expressed frustration with eBay after a payment method issue during a bidding process left them overdrawn. They reported being unable to change the payment method post-bid, despite expecting eBay to inform them of the limitation beforehand. After a lengthy discussion with customer service, including a supervisor, they felt unsupported and were hoping for assistance from PayPal. eburtonlab suggested using the one-hour grace period to manually change the payment method, but ncl_1701 replied that they were still unable to do so, feeling that eBay took no responsibility.
I contacted ebay because I bid on an item and then tried to change the payment method. Apparently you can't do this but it will let you try and nothing on the bid page tells you that it won't work. I contacted ebay even talked to a supervisor and they will do nothing since the wrong payment went though. Now I'm overdrawn and they don't care. The supervisor is the one who finally told me about all of this and showed me no compassion at all and continued to argue with me instead. So I was on with them for almost two hours and nothing. I'm at a loss of what to do now except hope Paypal will help me with this mess. I can't even talk to anyone else with the company. Anyone over the supervisor doesn't talk to us even just by email. I don't know what else to do. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Mentor3 weeks agoDid you try changing your payment method used for bids and offers and then placing a higher bid?
Otherwise, eBay often provides bidders up to an hour after the end of an auction to choose another payment method and check out manually before the automatic payment method is charged.
Once the payment method has been charged and the transaction has processed there is not much that can be done unless the seller is willing to cancel and allow the buyer to purchase again.

OP3 weeks agoNo, I didn't know that the system acted that way.
There was the hour offered but still couldn't change the payment method.
And Ebay only offered it's not our fault and made me feel like an idiot for being upset.
They said there was nothing they could do but took no responsibility at all.

You should be able to use that hour to check out manually and change the payment method before completing the purchase.

OP3 weeks agoTo ebay it's irrelevant. Since it did not work and the payment did go though they've washed their hands off the matter. If their service messes up and something like this happens too bad. They had me send a tech ticket which read that they won't get ahold of me. The agent said they would. We'll see.
