If your state has a sales tax, it likely applies, even to transactions involving used items.
Sales taxes are transaction taxes, not a tax on the "newness" of an item. Every time an item changes hands for money, particularly when using an online marketplace, the transaction may be subject to sales tax.
Thanks for getting back to me. It's coming from an individual from California. I called my state wisconsin and they said they don't charge sales tax on used stuff. Is the wonderful state of California charging me sales tax.

Mentor1 year agoIt is the state the item is shipped to, not the state the item is coming from, that determines the sales tax.
Wisconsin does have a sales tax, and it applies to used items as well as new items.
