WHY, PENALIZING A BUY BECAUSE I COULDN'T RATE A SALE, I DIDN'T RECEIVE?
Summary: marwillse1 expressed frustration over eBay's rating system after an item they purchased was lost in transit. They feel that current feedback options don't allow for proper acknowledgment of good seller service when an item isn't received. inceptions and lady_madonna offered advice, suggesting positive feedback and feedback revision requests, but marwillse1 believes eBay's feedback mechanism should better account for delivery issues and allow recognition of seller responsiveness. They also noted that the seller was unaware feedback could be revised.
I purchased an item. The seller sent the item through USPS, and gave me the tracking number#. From there it sat missing in action for 30 days!
The seller, refunded me my money after 10 days. They couldn't get any resolve from the USPS, on the tracking. "YOU" E-BAY, Wanted me to Rate
my experience. How was the product? Was it as advertised etc? But I couldn't give one sense I never received it! At No Fault of the Seller! All I
could do was give a "NATURAL" RATING, and explain what happend. But I found out that actually hurts the Seller! WHY? Why should circumstances
beyond their control harms or gives them a negative rating? I BELIEVE IT SHOULD NOT! AND THERE SHOULD BE A RATING THAT ALLOWS FOR JUST
SUCH THINGS! Natural should mean just that no rating! no up no down!
If there's a way to give a Positive feed back for the Seller, in such a situation, So they can be given Positive feed back where is it? This seller was prompt,
answered E-mails right away. Took appropriate actions needed. Refunded money when they said they would. They deserved a positive rating for that!
So, Why can't they get acknowledgement for that!

You can ask the seller to send you a feedback revision request so that you can revise your neutral feedback to a positive.

OP1 month agoHello lady_madonna;
This I Can understand; But when you get the (E-bay) "Rate your Interaction." rating. It's based on what you've received! Many people don't receive items due to the delivery errors, which are not the fault of the seller. (E-Bay) Needs to include a section, for just such things. Then ask questions wither the seller was responsive etc. to get a true rating. Not just wither the item you purchased, good bad or what ever? I feel it's a to short of a survey, and incomplete, leaving a seller in limbo in some ways. But in that survey giving a positive would mean you were happy with what you received. When I told the seller what I wrote, that I said he was great in the comment section, of that survey, even though I gave a natural rating, he got upset, but never mention to me about a revision could be done. So if there is one - for " Service" I'm all for that!

Mentor1 month agoHi @marwillse1
Feedback is optional. You can leave it or not. If you want to leave positive feedback for the seller because he provided great customer service even though the item was lost, then select a positive rating and add your comments. There is no penalty to the seller.

OP1 month agoHello - inceptions;
But, by leaving a response your trying help - the seller! (E-bay) hasn't updated that survey in years. They need to add to it to enable a way to show when a sellers customer service was good bad or indifferent? When a customer didn't get there item for what ever reason! My seller had great Customer Service. But there was NO Option for that in that survey! So for me, not commenting is harming the seller as well! Just my 2 cents.

Mentor1 month agoHi again,
If you opened a case and the seller resolved it, you won't be able to leave feedback. There is no harm to the seller. A large percentage of buyers never leave feedback. If you want to thank you seller, you can use eBay messaging to let him know that you are pleased with his service.
