WHY NOW / STILL?
A buyer bought an item in NOVEMBER. They filed a dispute with their bank since ebay said they could not process a claim after 90days. They have since confirmed they DID receive a refund and thanked me. The case they filed is STILL open and I have about $400 on hold. I do not sell much here, so I have been listing and shipping out items for over a month now with ZERO money coming in. Ebay has said they are waiting for the bank to contact them to confirm it is resolved. This was WEEKS ago. It was an LP box set. I sold multiple sets and everyone else DID get theirs. I don't want this person put out if they did NOT get theirs, but I am also not wanting to be out hundreds for an item that went MIA - plus another $75 in ebay fees. HOW can we get ebay to step in and CLOSE this claim? The buyer says they got a refund (and I have a copy of the email where they say this) but I asked them to close the claim and they did not reply. The longer this goes on the scammier it feels? What can I do? That $400+ would be handy at the first of the month. EBay's fees are already crazy and traffic is WAY down. How are they allowing this to go on when I have contacted ebay help 3-4x now about this? PLEASE OFFER ANY ADVICE. I only sell a little bit here THANKS

OP2 years agoAppreciated. Ebay says hey dispute is entirely out of their hands (somehow, even though THEY have the funds on hold). The also think this buyers prepaid card is an actual bank that WILL respond to them so they can release the hold. ANYway, Mercari gets more traffic and just dropped ALL seller fees- so I may give them a try. This is just theft. Ebay placed the hold but says they can't release it until they hear back from a scammer's not a bank, and I can't keep shipping things out and not getting paid because shipping costs and seller fes add up fast. HOW IS IT BEING HANDLED THIS BADLY? Is THIS what happened to the site? I thought it was them remaining more a site than an app. ANNOYING but thank you for your feedback. More coffee then getting to work, I'm sure this will just magically be the day they hear back from this very real bank. Ebay will just "hang onto" this $400 for "now".

OP2 years agoI asked who the buyers bank was, and I was assured by the help rep that USVISA_CREDITCARD is their bank and it is totally a legit bank and it's just taking them MONTHS to reply, which would end the claim. I can't even contact the bank myself because it reads like a prepaid card or something. This seems even scammier but ebay is saying they can't close the case, the buyer stopped communicating after confirming they got their refund. This isn't a charge I can track down via my bank, it is a chargeback a buyer made AFTER the 90days and the funds are deducted from my ebay funds (money people pay me for the item I send out). I sell little here and have been shipping them out unpaid for about a month. Its now (just after) the first and I have a few hundred in limbo until the buyers bank responds- which I do not think will happen, as I do not think this is a bank and I think I just got scammed- but ebay is just allowing for this.

Mentor2 years ago@calibanisland. I'm sorry that you're going through this. I provided all the information I have on dealing with chargebacks, or as eBay calls them disputes.

Mentor2 years ago@calibanisland Respond to the charge back with ALL of the information that you can. The tracking that shows delivery. The message from the buyer that says they received a refund and you should win the chargeback.

eBay can NOT close out the dispute. This is between you and the buyers bank.
