Why is seller being awkward for no reason

Question

A seller I asked to reserve an item for me for just 1 day keeps leaving one word responses or ignores me.Now the item is listed as sold but I wasn't sure whether she did this because she weren't sure how to reserve it.I keep asking whether the item has actually sold but keep either getting no response or a two word response that doesn't make sense.I feel like he/she is taking the p**s

There is no way to reserve an item on eBay - the seller would have had to cancel the listing, then relist it when you were ready to purchase.

There is also no way for a seller to mark an item sold - only someone buying it does this.
