Why is my "Bid Box" removed?

Hello, why was my "place your bid box" removed from my screen and then replaced with an automatic bidding computer?

eBay seems to be trying out a new (read: almost always worse) format for the Listing Page. Some users get the new one, some the old one. It seems that the new one has removed the bid box from the Listing Page (but not the Place Bid button; this was already done to the Bid History Page in a reformat at some time in the recent past). So if you get that you click the Place Bid button and then enter your bid amount on the bidding popup, the same as on the old Listing Page if you left the bid box blank. Under the old format you can enter an amount in the bid box on the Listing Page and then you would get almost the same bidding popup with the amount you typed in already filled in on it as a confirmation screen. Other than the order in which you click buttons and enter numbers the main difference is you lose the last chance to confirm or reject the amount you typed in (clicking the bid button in the popup after you have entered an amount* submits it immediately without a subsequent confirmation screen).

*--or chosen one of the amount buttons at the top which you should NEVER do as it's not only bad strategy to bid a round number based on the current bid, which is what they are, but it is very dangerous in that the amount submitted can suddenly increase above the stated amount as a new bid has been processed and your screen/eyes/brain/finger don't have time to process the change.

eBay may be experimenting with a new bid entry process, and may be testing the new design with select accounts.

You should still be able to bid by clicking on the "Place Bid" button, and then entering your bid amount on the pop-up that appears, and then confirming the bid.
