Why is my Amex card not an acceptable method of payment?

Does the Amex logo appear under the Payments tab in the item listing? If so, Amex should be accepted at checkout.

I have run into specific sellers that apparently had problems accepting Amex payments but that did accept other credit cards. At one point eBay indicated that sellers that use custom checkout pages might have trouble accepting some payment methods, but that was several years ago and I do not know if that is still the case.

An Amex credit card is generally accepted by eBay for payment of purchases. Are you not seeing that option at checkout? Are you trying to use an Amex gift card instead of a credit card?
