Why is it allowed for people/businesses to use a stock photo as their only photo for used?

Example would be books. They only use a stock photo and nothing else. They even do not describe the cosmetics of the books they have in hand. They should have photos of own books and descriptions of matks, tears, etc. So many of them does this and to ask each one of them is very time consuming when you have to look up several books and most of them only have stock photos.

@rivera71121 eBay allows stock photos for books also when items are listed as new. The seller is supposed to select the correct condition for the book. I agree that I only buy books, or any item, from sellers that show actual photos.

It is very time consuming though for sellers to list with photos and not worth it if they are selling low priced books. Sellers have to look at their bottom line and try to make a profit.
