Why doesn't eBay give points for every purchase? Rewards points?

I wish I knew the total of the amount Ive spent on eBay just to get nothing...

eBay had such a system for a while: "eBay Bucks". It was originally 2% of each qualifying purchase, then 1%, with occasional special promotional periods of 5% or 8% (with certain limits). Rewards could be cashed in quarterly and used for spending on eBay. The 1% reward ended in 2021, and the promotional periods ended in 2024.

Eventually the program became very costly as more regular buyers took advantage of it than new buyers that signed up to use it.

eBay used to have an eBay Bucks program but stopped it several years ago. The idea was to go to more targeted discounts and not a general points program. For the most part eBay did not really follow through on this change to the Bucks program.

You didn't get nothing. You received the items you purchased.

Not every company offers rewards. To fund rewards, prices would go up because fees to sellers would go up. Nothing is free...

eBay did have a rewards program in the past, but discontinued it.
