Why does the seller have no feedback?
I am considering a $7500 purchase from a seller with 234 transactions but why do they have no feedback? Is this a red flag? Am I protected if I get scammed? Thanks

Mentor2 years agoThere are many reasons not to buy very expensive items from new or inexperienced sellers.
Buyers should think twice before buying the most expensive item a seller has ever sold.
If the seller turns out to be a scammer, there are things the scammer can do to make it very difficult to get a refund.
New or inexperienced sellers often encounter problems and may require a lot of hand-holding to get through even a simple inexpensive transaction, much less a four figure one.
Even if the seller is not a scammer, the seller may wait for eBay to deposit the payment into the seller's bank account before shipping; but eBay typically holds the funds until after tracking shows delivery or for up to thirty days for new sellers.
If the seller does have past sales from longer than a year ago, are those sales for similar kinds of items as you intend to purchase? Large gaps in feedback history or drastic changes in the types of items sold can be one indication of a hijacked account.

·2 years agoIt means the seller has no feedback from selling. The 234 feedback is likely from purchases made.
You are protected… to a point.
I highly suggest you familiarize yourself with eBay’s Money Back Guarantee before proceeding with such a large purchase from a seller with no sales history.

Mentor2 years agoHi @rushlakemonster
The seller has no feedback or he has no feedback percentage? If he has 234 feedbacks, but the feedback percentage is zero, that could mean:
1. He has received no feedback within the last year OR,
2. The feedback he received in the last year included more negatives than positives.
You'll be able to see which applies when you look at his feedback profile page.

OP2 years agoI did as you suggested and went into the seller's feedback profile and see a bunch of positive reviews in the past. Apparently the history has been over a year ago, so that's why I don't see a percentage on the main listing page. Right? Thanks!

·2 years agoIf that’s what you are seeing, then, yes… no sales in the past 12 months.
I still advise reading the Money Back Guarantee and using extreme caution…
