Why does ebay seem to side with buyers when they make false claims for returns?
Recently, a buyer had been harassing me and lying about an item they purchased from me saying it was a fake. They filed a return and ebay just sided with them, even though their claim was not true. It seems as if a buyer has protection, but a seller does not. Do I just stop selling on ebay since I don't seem to have the same protections? I feel like ebay is just like facebook marketplace on steroids right now.

eBay cannot inspect the item ... so has no way of knowing whether or not the item you sent the buyer is fake.
Yes, eBay takes the buyer's word when the buyer claims an item is 'not as described' in some way ... as does all other selling venues I know of. Buyers win about 98% of claims automatically. I'm very sorry you're having this problem.

This is something you will need to learn to live with.
No it's not like Facebook on Facebook the buyer has no protection!
