I purchased a HP computer in July 2023 and it got so slow It takes 10 min to go on line. Another 10 min to get to my email. I bought the Allstate insurance that told me to go to HP for repair. HP took my serial number and told me the warranty expired in November of 2022. The seller sold me this computer as a NEW item. Nobody wants to take responsibility for this issue. From what others say about Allstate is they never stand behind what they are selling. Looks like Ebay isn't going to do anything either. At 80 years old it seems like just another take advantage of the elder issue no ones responsible for.
New doesn’t mean the manufacturer will honor a warranty - generally it has to be sold by an authorized retailer. Most sellers on eBay are not authorized retailers.
It is too late for eBay to help. I would contact Allstate again and tell them it is not covered by HP warranty and you expect them to cover the repair.
If they still decline, call your credit card issuer and ask them to open a dispute for a defective item. A computer should not slow down that much in just a few months. Most cards can help for 6 months, so don’t wait any longer.
ebay's Money Back is Guarantee states that you will receive your item, and if you do not, you can get your money back. You do have to file an Item Not Received case within 30 days of the estimated delivery date. The MBG also states that you will get your money back if the item is not as described, and you file a returns request within 30 days of receipt of the item.
