Why does ebay allow item posted that buyer pays shipping with media mail then not allow media mail
Ebay customer service told me the solution was to get the buyer to cancel the order to I can reclassify the item as a book. I posted it under Role Playing Games, since it is a book on how to play the game. I've done this, but this is the second time it happened to me. My concern is that ebay allows a type of shipping to be charged that its system won't allow to be purchased as a method of shipping. If it blocks it for shipping it should block it for posting. I am trying the solution given, but I don't feel ebay cares about this as a sellers issue based on the three calls I went through with ebay customer service. It would be nice to know if Ebay has any plans to address this for the future.

Sellers can purchase shipping outside of eBay if they choose.
eBay tries to discourage abuse of media mail by not offering it as an option in certain categories, but just because eBay does not offer a service does not mean that sellers cannot obtain that service if the specific item actually qualifies for it.

OP5 months agoI'm disappointed in the reply. Not allowing abuse would be not allowing use for categories where it does not apply. However, ebay does not allow manga categories to generate an ebay label, even though mangas have no ads for products other than books, and the U.S. reprints are not dated materials. This does not discourage abuse, it just does not allow use. Discouraging abuse would be disallowing it for magazines and comics that contain ads.
