Why does anyone use Ebay shipping services?
It's horrible! Do you get a price reduction from using it? With how often they loose items and there is no tracking, I'm surprised so many use them.
Add in that Ebay no longer let's you select multiple services and let the buyer decide which to use.
I have learnt one thing, when buying multiple cards, use the combined shipping option so sellers can't divide them up how they want. Doing this leads to one item being delivered and Ebay saying its been delivered when a ticket is put in.
Add in the Ebay is horrible at their job. Money back guarantee is a joke. You get paid all this money to just facilitate a transaction and don't even do your job to make sure it is in full.

1) I don't know what OSM means.
2) What shows at checkout is the methods the seller choose. eBay doesn't add additional options. Only the seller controls that options available at checkout.
If a seller shows USPS Ground Advantage and then ships eBay Standard Envelope, that is a downgrade in service and you can report that.
If the seller displays First Class and ships eBay Standard Envelope, those are equivalent services.

I guess you prefer a PWE with a stamp? If so, contact the seller and ask if they are willing to ship that way.
If you want Ground Advantage, that's a $4-$5 service, that's the actual cost to the seller, even for one baseball card.
eBay Standard envelope is indeed limited. the tracking happens in the sorting machines rather than having a carrier scan it.
As a seller, if you have an eBay Standard Envelope that goes missing, you can file for the insurance up to $20

OP1 year agoGood to know that is against the policy. Im not going to out anyone right now, but it has happened a couple times.
OSM is another third party that sellers use. Do a search and I'm sure several post will show up.
Not really a stamp guy, but I do prefer being able to truly track something.

eBay Standard Envelope is a much less expensive than shipping with Ground Advantage and this saves the buyer money.
Comparing costs:
- Regular USPS Ground Advantage the lowest charge is $4.16 - $4.85 with tracking
- Plain white envelope, First Class with no tracking is .78 to 1.36 (1-3 oz) no tracking
- eBay Standard Envelope will cost .74 to 1.32 (1-3 oz) some limited tracking
eBay does allow a seller to offer multiple shipping options so the buyer can choose the service they want to use. I have that on most of my listings.
A seller could easily offer
- eBay Standard Envelope $1.00
- Ground Advantage for $4.50
- Priority mail for $8.00
- Express mail for $25.00

OP1 year agoI'm mainly referring to the options when checking out. I don't want to use Ebay shipping service when doing USPS. I want USPS as described. I want if someone use a third party at any point to be stated as I don't like OSM either.
The tracking through the Ebay system is worthless even when a USPS tracking is provided. A seller and I almost had a bad case occur. Ebay shipping still said not shipped, luckily that day after an appeal for a denial because one item was recieved, the 3rd shipment arrived. Still shows in the ebay shipping system as not shipped. As stated, ES is worthless.
