Why do we have to pay fees for the sales tax portion of our sales?!
Or really why should we pay fees on any portion that isn't going into our pocket!?!

OR really really: "The question isn't literally "Why" it is "why the hell" should we pay a percent on money that is not going in our pocket?!"
Successful eBay sellers accept the fact that eBay stays in business by charging fees, that those fees are calculated on the total amount paid by buyers (including sales taxes), that the fees are subtracted during the earnings calculation of each order, and they accept the percentage/amount of those fees.
Many eBay sellers take the position that, ultimately, their buyers pay their eBay fees. They accomplish this result by careful pricing, including the use of shipping methods ("free" to buyers) that are not premium-priced.

Mentor11 months agoBecause eBay calculates its fees on the entire amount the buyer pays, and because you agreed to eBay's terms when you decided to list and sell on eBay.

OP11 months agoThat's not an answer, that is merely regurgitating the terms and conditions! The question isn't literally "Why" it is "why the hell" should we pay a percent on money that is not going in our pocket?! And just because I had to agree to it, does not mean that I have to like it or agree with it!

Mentor11 months agoYou pay the fee that eBay specifies because you want to list and sell on eBay.
If you want to know exactly why you agreed to it, you have to ask yourself.

What sort of answer would have satisfied you, short of "it's all a mistake, you don't really have to pay, here's a refund"?
