Why are you not paying my shipping cost?
I’ve recently started selling on eBay, and my first payment is coming now… and it’s less than what I paid for shipping at the post office (and my shipping amount on the sale was correct). So, I’m losing money on my sales. In fact, I see my next payout is actually A NEGATIVE AMOUNT because I refunded excess shipping costs for combined orders. Basically, eBay is going to TAKE MONEY from my account!

Mentor2 years agoYou are not going to make any money selling items for $.99, even with medial mail, which you should not be using - comics do not qualify for media mail. The fees are going to take all of your $. 13.25% x $5 ( $1 plus $4 plus tax) = $.66 plus $.30 transaction fee = $.96.
If you are not buying labels on eBay, then your payout should be about the amount you are spending on shipping, plus a few pennies left from the item - to see why you're negative, review your payment account - you can look at the details of each payment and each payout. https://www.ebay.com/sh/fin
You need to correct your shipping - if your PO opens one of your packages and finds you misusing media mail , they will inspect all of them going forward.

OP2 years agoYou’re focusing on the wrong part. But yeah, I can correct that going forward.
You DID NOT pay me my shipping cost. I did not buy a label because I don’t have a printer. I’m not looking to make money as much as just get this stuff out of my house and into the hands of someone who wants it. I’d send them strictly for the shipping cost… but I’m also not looking to LOSE money on the transaction. If the buyer pays $3.95 for shipping, you need to give that money to me, because I’m giving it to the Post Office (who is being told exactly what’s in the package).

try again, your answer is obsfucation and avoiding telling what actually happened here.

If you can't find the difference, then ask customer service for assistance.

OP2 years agoThere is no left side of the screen on my phone. I don’t use a regular computer (which is the screen type I assume you’re talking about). There is no call feature given on the mobile version (ironic, since this is MY PHONE), and the chat is automated. I typed a simple form of my question and it replied with instructions on returns and wanting to know which of the orders I’ve placed I want to return items from. Utterly useless.
So, I’m not actually going to be able to talk to someone at eBay… great.
I will, from this point forward, be a FORMER eBay user (not even going to buy).

OP2 years agoJust to let you know, I did some Googling based on what you said and found a phone number that I could call. Francis, the guy I spoke to, went over it and saw that they were subtracting the refund amount of an entirely different order. Dumb policy, but I get what’s happening now.

Mentor2 years ago@thomasharrow I too am glad you understand the math being used and I looked at your items and have to agree with @wooden_flower that in order to make Selling worth it your price points need to be higher, even Auctions need to start high enough that a one bid sale hits your profit margin. eBay will want you to list Auctions starting at 99 cents but their version of an auction is lot like those at auction houses where ALL the Buyers are there and things bid up ... eBay requires people to first find your item during the short listing cycles and then be interested enough to bid.
You may want to consider setting a "lowest price" that you will sell anything for and maybe start around $ 10.00. If you get something that you can't sell for at least that much don't offer it on eBay. You will spend about the same amount of time creating listings, packing orders, etc. for a $ 10 item as you will for a $ 100 item and likewise for a $ 1000 item ...
You may also want to consider using a PC at some point, the listing tool on the computer based venue allows you to avoid the Auto-relist on Auction listings. It gives you more flexibility in listing.
