Why after 25 years of buying and selling, eBay now wants a photo ID?
After 25 years of buying and selling on eBay, now they want a photo ID. I have a 100% feedback rating and now eBay sends me a message after selling about 40 items that they are now going to hold my funds unless I upload a photo ID.

Mentor9 months agoeBay is required to have information such as ID and Social security number for sellers.
It's proof of identity and you can't get around it.
If you want to sell and get paid, you need to provide the information they ask for. When we originally started on eBay, they did not have the same requirements and they are asking long time members to come into compliance.

OP9 months agoThank you for your help. I just started selling again in November after a break for several years. I gave them all the information they requested for selling back in November; bank info, Social Security, etc. I don't understand why they waited until I made about 40 sales to send the request for ID. I thought that would have been something they would have asked for earlier.

Mentor9 months agoI had this happen to me after about 25 years of active selling with no breaks. Out of the blue they wanted me to upload my driver's license and prove who I was.
It's just what they do and I can't explain why.
