Who trusts the new AI generated listings?
Summary: nats_nostalgic_nook expressed frustration with eBay's new AI-generated listings, which inaccurately identified and undervalued a rare item, resulting in financial loss. They felt misled and unsupported by eBay, which offered no solution or compensation. disneyshopper shared their experience with third-party tools and cautioned that mistakes can happen, but found the time-saving aspect worthwhile. nats_nostalgic_nook managed to intercept the shipment to correct the error. comics-scifi-collectibles sympathized with their situation, suggested eBay should compensate, but acknowledged the seller's responsibility for listing accuracy.
As you all might know that eBay has implemented a new way to make a listing using AI generated content. It will give a description and suggest a price. How many have trusted this for accuracy as I use to? Has anyone had it inaccurately identify an item and give you an unreliable suggested price? Recently it suggested I sell my item for $12 so I used that price as a guideline on pricing the item. I provided a couple clear pictures of the item and it missed matching it to other items that are exactly like mine that sold in similar condition for $160 and $191. My item was, unknown to me, a used Littlest Pet Shop Comic Con Hippo #1702. It didn't identify it correctly at all so I ended up losing a lot of money due to the inaccuracy in their new system. I trusted them to provide accurate information as it should be able to match identical items to the one I had. I feel cheated, mislead and scammed out of over $100 or more. They are not offering any alternative ways to list my items. They offered me no solution to the problem nor offer compensation for a flawed system. I'm not sure how to resolve the issue at hand. I feel like they should replace my item so I can make the money I lost out on during this highly flawed system I'm forced to use. I was told it was basically my fault and I'm out the potential revenue I surely could have made given the opportunity and correct information. I'm sick about it. Is there anyway around using an AI generated listing? Go back to the old way of listing? I need help because this shouldn't have happened and I never would have used the $12 pricing had I not been mislead by this horribly flawed tool.

Mentor3 weeks agoI am not familiar with the ebay AI lister, and I am told it will not be offered to me because I use Seller Hub and its advanced business listing tool. Also, I have heard that sellers using Business Policies also are not offered the AI listing tool.
I have used a third party listing program for 500 Disney pins, which does not suggest a price, and I believe they are prohibited from doing so. Sellers are responsible for the contents of their listing, so I reviewed each listing this AI tool created, and they did make mistakes in identifying some Disney characters, and even misread the text in the pin. However, because it saved me so much time, it was worth it for me to use, even with the mistakes I caught.

OP3 weeks agoWell see. Unfortunately for me I didn't catch this mistake until it was too late. It had sold and was out the door. I think eBay should be held responsible for implementing such a tool and not offering any other way to do it when it's not reliable. But who am I to them? Nobody except for a small starter store. Customer seller that basically got screwed but I figured it all out. It's okay, I can intercept the package and get it back to me apparently. And then I'll figure out how to deal with a refund for the person that bought it and relisted for the proper price. I thought I was screwed but I figured out a way to stop it. eBay was offering no solution for me and no kind of help and blamed me for the mistake. When AI was the one that suggested the price. I just trusted that it was correct. I didn't realize until people started messaging me making me high dollar offers for it that I had made a terrible mistake. But I am in the middle of correcting it currently.

Mentor3 weeks ago · Edited@nats_nostalgic_nook I am so sorry that happened to you. The lister does have a warning that it can make mistakes.
I agree that eBay should compensate you but I am afraid that won't happen as the seller is responsible for the listing contents.

Mentor3 weeks ago@disneyshopper Just a FYI.... seller hub unfortunately no longer blocks the nagic lister. I found out when I did a test draft on the app. I know that you don't use the app so I wanted you to know about the change.
