The buyer is covered by the eBay money back guarantee. The buyer should provide the seller of pictures of the item, the box and the packing material so the seller can file a insurance claim.
The buyer doesn't wait for the insurance payout if any but should hold on to all materials until the sellers insurance case is closed. USPS may ask the buyer to bring the items in to the post office.
