Who pays return shipping cost?
I have always offered 14 day returns and virtually never have anything sent back. But recently someone sent back a $750 Tiffany Inkwell, because they said they bought it for their father as a birthday present and that he didn’t like it.
why did I have to reimburse him for his original shipping cost? There was no damage to the item. The buyer changed his mind. When I called eBay I was told that that was standard policy. of course, standard policy often seems to be who the eBay rep is on the other end of the phone.

It is based on the reason the buyer chose when they opened the return. If they chose changed my mind, then the buyer pays return shipping and you do not have to refund the original shipping.
If they chose a not as described reason, then you pay shipping both ways.
