So let me understand eBay policies, when an member makes a purchase on line and that purchase is stated to have a 3 year warranty AND it is over 30 days since the purchase, eBay will wash their hands of any and all issues related to that purchase? I have contacted eBay AND the seller and the ONLY reponse I have received is from eBay stating that it is over 30 days since the purchase and that eBay is no longer responsible to look into or help with the issue. After reading through the selling guidelines I see that when an item is stated to have a warranty, that the terms of this warranty be available for review prior to the sale. All I have been able to find is the posting of the item, that it is stated to have a 3 year warranty, but no links or anything outlining what or if there is anything more than "Warranty - 3 years".
3 months after the sale the item failed and I am sitting here with the cost of the part paid, a defective parts, and for all intents and purposes, eBay and the seller are sitting back counting their money and say "f___ you". In all the years I have been an eBay member this is the second time I have made a major purchase and eBay has screwed me over.
On eBay, the buyer has thirty days to figure out if the seller is actually complying with all of eBay's terms regarding warranties -- or anything else. Once thirty days has passed, if the buyer has not filed a claim with eBay, eBay will no longer help the buyer get any money back.
Sellers make all kinds of claims about what they are selling, and not all of those claims are true or enforceable, often because the seller does not know that many manufacturer's warranties are not transferable and often they only apply when purchasing from a dealer authorized by that manufacturer.
Because of this, eBay is not a good place to buy things that cannot be properly evaluated within thirty days of receipt, whether that involves intangible items, subscriptions, or anything that requires the ongoing cooperation of a third party beyond thirty days.
You may still have some recourse through your payment method; many credit cards offer up to six months of protection for items that are "not as described". Check with your credit card issuer for details.
