Where should I go for help to figure out a charge I don't recognize?
I am reconciling the statement for the credit card I use to make purchases on ebay.
I see a $100+ ebay charge on my card from Feb 27 that does not match any purchase I made.
I maybe buy 1 of 2 things a month from ebay and I can see my purchase history and there's no mistaking it - I did not buy anything from ebay matching that charge.
I just can't figure out what ebay link to click to have them try to help me figure out what item it was, who bought it, and where it shipped to - it might have been a family member, but they don't use this card as far as I know.

Mentor2 years agoIs it possible you purchased using a different eBay account? Or as a guest?
Is it possible you purchased something with a discount or credit, so that the total amount on your card may not match the purchase total?
If you are certain you made no such purchase, contact your card issuer for details of the transaction or to dispute the transaction and get a new card number issued.

OP2 years agoI was out of town on that date and I'm certain I didn't buy anything.
Are you saying ebay can't give me details about transactions made with my card?

eBay can give you details of transactions made using your eBay account, but if the transactions were made with someone else's eBay account, eBay may not be able to provide you with any details.
An eBay customer service rep does not know if a credit card number is actually "yours" or not. Your bank, on the other hand, presumably can establish if you are the actual cardholder or an authorized user, and can provide transaction details for your account.
eBay might or might not be able to provide some details given an eBay transaction number -- at least some users have gotten some item details that way, but I do not know if that is eBay policy or if those users just happened to get a lucky break.
