Where is the refund?
I hope you guys can point me in the right direction.
Purchase item in ebay and tried paying using a creditcard but accidentally went through paypal which was linked to a bank account. This lead to the bank account becoming negative. I immediately cancelled order, ebay/paypal sent email that refund is going to be sent. Bank showed refund being "processed" and eventually completed after a day. 2 days later, the same amount was then taken out again from my bank account which caused it to be negative again.
Now a week has passed since this happened
- Contacted bank and they said as of today no signs of any returns/refund from ebay/paypal
- Contacted paypal and they said to give it more time and if it doesn't appear back then they can "trace" what happened
My question is why is this happening and what are my next steps?

This is no longer Ebay's responsibility since you have contacted Paypal.

Exactly HOW did you 'cancel' the order? You use the term eBay/PayPal as if they are one company. They aren't. They are two, completely separate companies. Which one did you deal with ... and what exactly did you do?

OP1 year agoSo when the payment pushed through (ebay app), I did the cancel process in ebay and within a few minutes it gave me the request to cancel is being processed message and shortly after that I received email the refund is being processed.
I did call paypal and they said to wait... have not had the chance to talk to anybody in ebay because I couldnt find a number.

Why is what happening? The second bank debit? Someone else here might have insight into that, but in the meantime, what I think you should do is go down to that bank and talk to a bank officer.
I used to work for a company that accepted paper checks, and this was very long ago, when a check bounced – i.e., was returned for "NSF" (not sufficient funds) – the company would submit it again. Sometimes it would go through the second time, sometimes it would bounce again.

OP1 year agoDo you know if there is a chance that it would go to the seller? Like payment was taken out of account, ebay then tried to give it back but bounced and send back to seller?
My main thought I guess is I'm figuring out which company... ebay, paypal or bank is where the payment is stuck so I can focus my calls there instead of all 3.
