where is my item located at?
Summary: huskermaniaman expressed frustration with purchasing items listed as being in the US on eBay that are actually shipped from China. This results in longer delivery times, which is a recurring issue for them. They are seeking clarification on whether this practice is being regulated by eBay and why it continues to happen.
Hello, I have a question and I think it needs addressed more often from Ebay. When I am looking for an item to buy I always click US only. I DO NOT want to wait for any extended time for it to arrive.
So after finding what I am looking for and see that it is located in the US I buy it. Once the payment goes thru etc and I get a notice that it is shipped I go to my tracking number and see when it will be delivered. I dont know how many times it will come up as being shipped from China and be weeks before I get it. I DO NOT agree with sellers stating they are located in the US and the actual item is somewhere else. This has been an ongoing concern for a few years now and I assume I am not the only buyer peeved at this practice. First of all I want to know if this is a practice that is being observed by Ebay and second of all why are they letting it get out of hand?
thank you, Kirby Marsh

Probably the best way to deal with sellers that misrepresent item location is to avoid them whenever possible. The "US only" item location filter selects items that are listed as being in the United States; however, as you have seen, not every seller that lists items in the US ships from the US as they should.
Before ordering you should check the estimated delivery dates -- that is a good indication of how far away items actually ship from. Generic shipping options or DHL may be a sign of an international shipment. Also, going to a seller's profile page or feedback page will tell you where the seller's account was registered. Although some overseas sellers do use US warehouses to ship their items (and some registered US-sellers may employ drop-shippers), if a seller is registered overseas, that raises the likelihood of an item shipping from outside the US, particularly for multiple quantity commodity items. Checking seller feedback closely will often reveal if there are problems with long shipping times, canceled orders or other supply chain warning signs, particularly if buyers that encounter problems with drop-shippers leave feedback indicating that.
