When refunding the buyer my funds appear lower than the item price, but funds on profile are complete
I sold a single item and did the shipping label myself not the ebay one, the item was never collected so now i’m trying to cancel the order and refund the buyer. While the full price does appear in my funds on my account page, ebay refunds page says i don’t have the full amount in funds to refund the buyer and i need to pay £5 out of pocket. how to resolve that? I’m only cancelling the order but don’t want to pay £5 for nothing.

Mentor1 week agoYes, once buyer pays, if buyer's payment hasn't cleared your account, you front the refund from what ever funds you have in your account first and then from your back up funding source. When buyer's payment does clear it is still credited to your account even though the transaction was cancelled as the buyer has already been refunded. Buyer will not be refunded twice.

Mentor1 week agoYou are on the USA boards, but here you must front the refund amount or shortage, which will be credited back to you when the buyer's payment clears.

OP1 week agoThank you! So the buyer’s payment will clear even if the order is cancelled? How can i be sure i get the amount back? Will it be credited to ebay or my card, if ebay then can i transfer it to my bank account easily?

Mentor1 week ago@roosi42 I recommend asking for help on the UK community boards. We can only tell you what the process is like here in the US.
You refund the buyer from your back up payment method for selling costs, I use a credit card so it doesn't come out of my checking account.
Once the buyers refund is processed their original payment is sent to your Managed Payments account as a payout.
