When increasing my MAX bid, EBay increased my bid against my already leading/winning bid.
After an auction approached my maximum bid amount, I increased my maximum bid amount and EBay increased the bid amount. This had me bidding against my already leading/winning bid. How can this even happen?

You are not bidding against yourself, you are bidding against the second highest bidder's maximum bid amount. If you increase your bid when the bids are within one bid increment, your bid may jump up to a full increment above the other bidder's maximum amount.

OP9 months agoThanks for your reply. I was actually leading the bidding at 700 and increased my maximum bid amount only to have EBay to increase the bid to 710. I am listed as the 700 and 710 bidder in the bid history.
