When did ebay get so bad?

Have been w eBay for 25 years and recently needed to add a new checking account. The bank, PNC, is not found and have been through multiple agents who, while pleasant, completely inept. Almost 3 hours of phone calls, and was just asked to send a screenshot to evidence the screen, (slightly insulting…) and as soon as she got it, she hung up on me after 44 minutes. Got another agent to call and the line dropped after 4 minutes. Third agent said there were no managers.
After initiating this issue over a month ago with no outcome, nor the courtesy of a return call, cannot wait to close my account. Sad, always enjoyed the platform, but they don’t value my time and I’m not willing to waste any more of it.
If anyone has any ideas on how to escalate, would be a great example for someone at eBay to research my interactions and how their poor service resulted in a lost customer when it should have been resolved in less than 5 minutes.

MentorAug 15, 2026 at 2:36 AM@spazandbruiser I want to clarify the process. A fellow Mentor had to change their checking account recently and they had to ADD the NEW account and then delete the old one.
Here's how to change bank checking accounts and if you have any problems you can contact eBay customer service for help from #3
#1 First make sure your name and address on your eBay account match your new bank account exactly:
https://accountsettings.ebay.com/profile It must be a brick and mortar checking account, not virtual.
#2 Next try this: Go to your payments page and select Add Payment option.
https://ppcapp.ebay.com/myppc/wallet/list Then select add bank account and add the new account. Then if the old account is not automatically deleted you will need to delete it.
#3 If you still can not change banks then here's how to contact an eBay customer service managed Payments Agent:

Then Type Verify Checking account. In the chat bot box on the lower right.
Then AGENT after the bot responds. You might have to repeat those steps.

OPAug 15, 2026 at 2:31 PMReally appreciate your help! The issue is PNC is not one of the 8k banks listed and there’s no option to add the routing and account number manually. I’m sure eBay will eventually get it sorted out. Thanks again!!!

After a month and several calls, I can understand why you are frustrated. Before spending more time on another support call, there are a couple of things worth checking because PNC not appearing in the bank search does not necessarily mean you cannot use the account.
If you are trying to replace your current checking account for payouts, go to Seller Hub > Payments and look at the payout account currently on file.
eBay’s current instructions say that only one checking account can be on file for payouts. Their documented process is to remove the existing payout checking account, select Add, and then choose either Log in to my bank or Enter manually.
If PNC does not appear when you use Log in to my bank, try Enter manually instead and enter the PNC routing number and checking account number.

A few other things are worth checking before changing anything:
The account must be a checking account, not a savings account.
The name on the bank account needs to match the name registered with eBay.
The account types also need to match. For example, if your eBay account is registered as a business account, eBay requires a business checking account.
eBay may also need to verify the new account after you add it. Verification can be done through the bank login, microdeposits, or in some cases a bank statement.

I would check those items first. If Enter manually is missing or PNC still cannot be added after entering the routing and account information manually, that gives you a much more specific issue to take back to eBay Payments support rather than starting over with another general support call.
