When creating a variation listing how do you get the photos to attach correctly

I have 24 different scents of product and have 24 photos to attach in my variation listing which I doing on my laptop. But every time I type out the scents it attaches the first photo for all 24 listings. No matter what I do I can get it to attach the correct photo to each individual scent.

It's driving me crazy!!! I've watched a ton of you tube videos and it's not fixing the problem. HELP PLEASE!!!!!

1) You need to chose to change the photos based on your 'Scent' attribute

2) Add any default photos

3) Select the attribute to vary the photos

4) Then click each scent and add the photo there.

This is a variation listing I have for 19 crimes corks, with a different variation photo for each of 20 some options. My Attribute is 'crime cork number'. Your attribute will be scent or similar.

This shows where to pick the attribute to change the photos

Then click a bubble reflecting your scent, add those photos, and repeats for all 24

Don't forget to Scroll down and 'Save and Close', then 'Save for later'

This way you don't lose your work.
