When an item arrives broken how quickly must the buyer report it if they want a refund?
I do an extremely well job of packaging my items that I sell and very seldom do any of my items arrive broken or damaged. Is there a rule as to how quickly the buyer needs to report an item received broken or can they wait 1 or 3 weeks before reporting it. It has happened a couple of times that I received an item returned and I know for a fact that it did not arrive in that condition. I have learned that there are many dishonest people who will need certain parts, order an item, remove the parts they need and replace them with bad parts, then break the item and claim it arrived broken. This often happens with Clocks and stereo equipment. I don't like that there isn't a requirement that any broken items must be reported within at least 3 days after the item has been delivered. IS there a time limit for protecting Sellers. ??

Mentor1 year agoThe buyer has 30 days from receipt of the item to report an issue with the item.
They don't have to contact the seller, they just need to contact eBay.
It isn't really possible to know inconclusively that the item did not arrive broken, and eBay won't take sides, They just require the seller to accept the return.
