What's the process with getting a tracking number sent to me in an email?
I've been in touch with the seller. It's now Wed. early eve/late afternoon. The tracking number is in now in eBay with my info about the product (it wasn't emailed to me). But I have no email with any tracking number. Should I?

I decided to see if Reddit could enlighten me since I'm not able to find the info in eBay. Here's one post (about 3 yrs old so the process may have changed) from Reddit. I've never seen this happen and I've been a buyer and seller on eBay for some decades now. Does anyone know what the process/rules are? At this point, I'm not going to ding the seller if he/she is following the process.

Just wondering what the communities opinion is on sellers not providing a tracking number? I understand that they don’t need to supply one but it’s 2022 I like to know when my packages are coming I don’t need a porch pirate taking it. I don’t need it sitting out in the rain. If I ask for one why not just provide it? I’ve never left a negative review on eBay and I wouldn’t leave one for this but I’m considering a neutral because if I looked at the sellers profile and I saw they don’t provide tracking numbers I would want to know before I buy from them.

OP7 months agoI would never give a seller a neutral or negative review for something like this. As a buyer, I won't purchase something from a buyer for specific products that don't do it. Understanding this is helpful. Thanks.

Mentor7 months agoTracking is for the protection of the seller and not the buyer. Buyers have the eBay Money Back Guaranty as their protection. Thus sellers are not required to provide tracking numbers although most do. If the seller goes through the eBay shipping center the tracking number is automatically entered into the purchase details. If the seller gets their shipping label outside of eBay then the tracking number may or may not be provided.
If you gave a neutral for this the seller could get it removed since this is not something they are required to do.
