Whats Going To Happen When I Dispute Seller Fees?
Long story short, I cant make listings for sale on my account yet eBay currently is and has been charging me monthly $21.xx or something. Havent listed anything in over a year and Ive been charged every month. Doesn't seem legal to charge someone for a service you're no longer providing to them
**EDIT**
My last sale was Sept 25th, 2023. So, basically 11 months I have been charged $21.95, totaling $241.45. Ill contact customer support tomorrow and if nothing is done I will contact my bank to dispute the charges.
Continuing to charge for a service you stop offering 🤠I definitely chose the wrong career path

You are being charged because you have an Ebay Store subscription.
Remember this? > https://www.ebay.com/str/rkddistributing
If you no long want to be charged monthly for your Store subscription, you will need to CLOSE your Ebay Store.

Your bank will not let you dispute the charges for a subscription that you signed up for.

OP2 years agoSure, its true that banks typically don't allow disputes for subscriptions you willingly signed up for, this doesn't apply when the subscription service isn't being provided as promised or if there are extenuating circumstances like account restrictions.
Service Not Rendered: Even though I signed up for the subscription, eBay has restricted my account from selling, which effectively means they are no longer providing the service I subscribed to. If Im unable to use the service, the charges may be considered invalid, and my bank can help dispute these on the basis of "services not rendered."
Lack of Usage and Misrepresentation: If the subscription charges continued while I was unable to use my account for its intended purpose (selling), it can be argued that eBay did not fulfill their side of the agreement. In such cases, subscription fees may be subject to disputes as I wasn't receiving the service I was paying for.
Consumer Protection Laws: Many consumer protection laws ensure that companies can’t continue to charge for a service that they’ve suspended or restricted access to
Ill still be contacting my bank. If nothing becomes of it then so be it, but Im not letting this slide without some kind of attention brought to it. At the end of the day, 1 thing that cannot be disputed is how its down right shi**y to continually charge someone for a service you're not even giving them access to.

Why didn't you just simply close your Ebay store to prevent the recurring fees? It is up to the seller to close their store subscription, not Ebay.
Edited to add: When did you start your Ebay Store subscription and when did you find out you can't list anything for sale?

OP2 years agoI wasted 5-6hrs of my time recording and submitting the correct documentation only for them to still deny my ability to list products. So once I got that denial I completely stopped using/visiting eBay. It was never on the forefront of my mind that the subscription was still in play. On top of that I had to pay a $40 early cancellation fee. What am I paying a cancellation fee for? I cant list. Havent been able to list for 11 months now. So what exactly am I cancelling? A subscription for service? What service?
Im not sure when exactly I did the subscription. The last sale I had was Sept 25th 2023.
Sure its on the seller to cancel their subscription under normal circumstances, but it seems like eBays the one that cancelled my service and then continually charged me for a service they no longer provided. They know and have known that I wouldn't be reinstated as a seller, so this isnt a scenario where they are waiting on me to provide documentation to decide whether or not to reinstate my selling privileges.

If you have any time remaining on your yearly Store subscription, you will have to pay an early cancellation fee.
The Store subscription you signed up for was still in effect despite your inability to list items. There was no "service", it was your Store subscription which just offers extra perks like more free listings, etc.

According to Ebay: If you have a yearly subscription and you cancel your Store prior to the last calendar month of your Subscription Term:
It sounds like you are about at the end of your year's subscription. Make sure to close it so it does not renew.
You may want to contact Ebay Customer Service.
