What to do when Seller and Buyer agree to Cancel a Transaction, but neither follows up in 90 days?

We agreed to cancel a transaction. We both went on vacation and failed to execute. Now, six months later I catch the error and both parties want to honor the agreement. So how do we exchange funds when all the ebay options are no longer available? Appears like Seller can't return the money and Buyer can't inform ebay the item was never received. Seems like the only option is to directly communicate outside of ebay which appears to be a potential ebay policy violation, which neither side wants.

The buyer is way too late to get help from eBay. The seller is way too late to refund through eBay. The seller can refund through PayPal if both parties have a PayPal account. The seller will need the buyer's PayPal email address. Sending a check would be another alternative.
