What to do for Return / Shipping / Shipping Fee
Summary: *.revenge.* sold an item on eBay, but the buyer had not updated their address before purchase, leading to a failed delivery. Both parties attempted to change the address via UPS, but fees were prohibitive. As the item is being returned, *.revenge.* is unsure how to handle the situation with the return request the buyer opened for 'item not arrived'. krazzykats suggests offering a partial refund without including shipping costs. fashionsandbeauty4u advises that if eBay's 'Item Not Received' request is filed, it is important to provide tracking information to ensure eBay rules in favor of the seller, pointing out that eBay does not require a refund if the seller shipped to the address specified in the order details.
Okay so I sold and item, started getting close to destination we'll come to find out, the guy had moved an never changed his address, I BOUGHT EBAYS LABEL FOR SHIPPING (SO TECHNICALLY ITS HIS FAULT HE AINT CHANGE ADDRESS) we Both called ups tryina change address but they were tryina charge extra like 25+$ the item was only 25$. So we had only one other choice which was to have it get sent back to me.
So he opened a return request for "item not arrived" . Well how do I accept the return but NOT include shipping charges?. He was the one that ain't chnage the address, that's his fault..

If he opened an Item Not Received refund request on eBay, you only have three business days to respond. It is critical that you enter/re-enter the tracking number into his request for eBay to rule in your favor.
If the item is headed to his old address, and it is delivered there, that's between him and the current occupants. As long as you shipped to the exact address in the Order Details for this transactions, your only job now is to enter that tracking number into his refund request. eBay does not require that you refund him.

OP1 week agoWell thats the problem it got to the old address but was never "dropped off" the ups tracking update says "person moved, looking to get contact to find a new address" it was just sitting in limbo land, and he couldnt change the address, i couldnt change the address, figured just take it back...
I just dont wanna pay the 10-15$ for shipping that I pretty much blew to get it there. Its FREE to send it back. But like I said by time I get it back, there wont be any point to sell it again cause ill be in the Hole 15$ already, already got finessed by ebays fees. I wanna know if when I do the refund will it ask me "partial refund" or let buyer take the hit for shipping. I dont wanna hit refund an then im out. I got till the 6th. But ill have it figured out by today

Mentor1 week agoOffer a partial refund for the amount minus the shipping costs.
It's still up to the buyer to accept it though...
